Iron & Wine – Carousel Lyrics 15 years ago
Persia is modern day Iran, a clear enemy of the United States Government, the bible and wedding band declare a use of religion to guise immoral motives for war, the "hidden on a tv stand" part shows the media's role in all of this. The 4th stanza has been pretty well explained above, so i won't bother. the last 2 stanzas are the outcomes of this exploited religous cause. The 1st, 5th, and 6th stanzas do baffle me a bit. Themes of religion as a tool, war as an oppurtunity, and death propagate throughout this song.

Iron & Wine – Carousel Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is clearly anit-religion, not so much anti-political; the first 4 stanzas exemplify this. the pool scene depicts religion being forced upon the youth, and in turn being protested. The 3rd stanza is the most explicit, Coming home with symbols of peace, as "You were beating on a Persian rug
With your bible and your wedding band
Both hidden on a TV stand,"

Iron & Wine – Teeth in the Grass Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about achieving utopia, the "teeth in the grass" does not represent death to me, rather it is the violence that will be caused to achieve utopia. Sam sings of the beauty in utopia and the violence it will take for the human race to get there. This in itself is contradictory, can it be utopia if violence is required?

TV on the Radio – Golden Age Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with ReverendKelvin thats about an upcoming utopia, but i dont think it is about reverting back to "where we were thousands of years ago." i feel the utopia sung about is completly new, where nothing is needed or wanted.
