| Evanescence – Taking Over Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

God bothers eh! You guys can see deity in anything. It's nice that people are seeing love and cuddles in this song, but it seems clearly to be about an obsessive person. I suspect that it would be Amy-Lee's experience with a single or maybe even an amalgam of Evanescense fans. Take the first verse: "You don't remember me, but I remember you I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you" It speaks of someone in the first person. The person is aware of another who, in turn, is not aware they exist - such as a fan and Amy. Then there is the chorus: "I believe in you I'll give up everything just to find you I have to be with you To live, to breathe You're taking over me" Obsessing much?! Or perhaps fanatical. Next we have this: "Have you forgotten all I know, and all we had" Note the "all I know" ('I' being the pronoun to note) and then the switch to 'we' in the "all we had". The statement suggests an obsessive fan that Amy has never met and so has no shared experiences except perhaps a concert the fan has attended. In other words the fan knows a lot about Amy, but of course Amy knows nothing of the fan. Lastly there is: You saw me mourning my love for you, and touched my hand I knew you loved me then Can't you just picture it. Some fan looking needy, so Amy sings an autograph book, hands the book back to the fan and the briefest of hand touches is had... Oooh! Sounds like true love to me. Anyway I can't see a flaw in my logic. Songs are just about experiences after all. Lithium, for example, is about her sister whom uses lithium because of a condition she suffers (saw an interview - not psychic). |
