Actually, I think slick might have been pretty close. "With track marks, painting such a pretty blue" Track marks are the result of using needles to inject drugs. Wanting to be famous/beautiful/popular can be like a drug. Either that, or it really is about drugs. "Give us that potion to make everything right Feel the healing spiking my veins tonight" because of this line. Its either drugs, or us wanting to be like the stars. If you do everything like those MTV whores, you feel like everything is right. You could be right with the whole Ma Barker bit though. Idk dude, good song though. |

| I think the increase in bass was just to build up to the climatic ending for when it sounds like a fuse is blown. They got the idea from an older band. I think that band held a heat lamp up to the fuses in the recording studio to get the fuses to blow and get the cutoff ending. I'm pretty sure Zao's chaotic ending was just Mr Albini working his magic. | |

the only song I have heard by TBDM is their cover of "Paint it Black". I figured I would check it out since I loved The Agony Scene's cover of it so much. TBDM doesn't come close to awesome on that song compared to TAS. However, I'm not saying TBDM sucks because that is the only song by them I have heard, and I don't like to judge based on one song. And yes LoG is amazing and shouldn't be compared to JFAC. As for the song, I think it speaks for itself. It is about the end times and the birth of the antichrist. |

no not a concept album per se. the songs follow the theme of the circles of hell. "as he shone in the eyes around him" the people of the church thought he was a saint and he "shone" (shined) in their eyes so they didn't believe the girl. "breathe. come out of your stare, touch the ground with your prayers, breathe out the lies." this could go back to people not believing her. "breathe out the lies" they thought she was lying. i dont know about the "touch the ground with your prayers" it could also be about the guy lying about the whole thing. as for the end i feel that it has been broken down nicely by previous posters. Zao changed my life forever. They were my first metal band. Ever heard of the Christian Rapcore band called Every Day Life(EDL)? well i was on cdnow.com years back and looking at EDL cd's and there was something at the bottom of the page that said "People who bought this also bought:" and there was a band called Zao down there. so i downloaded a couple songs and it changed my musical life forever. Zao and Demon Hunter were my first. Zao's new album drops sometime in '09! |

Mr.stormy, sometimes Christians get creative and call the DEATH metal LIFE metal, BLACK metal UNBLACK (or WHITE) metal. Really, all death metal is is a sub-genre of metal. It doesn't describe lyrics. It describes what you expect to hear from a band under the Death Metal genre. And sonicemerald. I don't know whether you are disagreeing with kyle or not. It sounds like you don't believe this music is a joyful noise. Well, it makes me joyful. Metal to me is a joyful noise. Ever heard the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Well to me "A joyful noise is in the ear of the beholder". Honestly, I am a Christian, but I do not enjoy typical Christian worship. Does that make it wrong because it isn't a joyful noise. Now lets look at the last part of that verse. "unto God". WBCC, Impending Doom, Becoming the Archetype all write music that uplifts God's name. To me that is "unto God". |

| i like the ideas being thrown around here. however, xxcfl, allow me to suggest a different view on what you mentioned. i believe the "as we pray on his grave, our words fall and decay" means something a little different. not necessarily losing faith in God. but more, as we pray, we are praying to Someone who is not there anymore. our words just come out of our mouths and fall to the ground and rot. God isn't there to answer them anymore so the point of praying is moot. it is just wasted words. thats my thoughts anyways. great album. it is just unfathomable thinking of a world where God looks at us and says "You know what, you don't want Me here then fine. Here, take the controls for the Earth. When all goes wrong, I won't be here to blame." It almost gives me a headache just trying to imagine it. Great song, great album, great band. God bless!!! | |
