To say that this song can't possibly be about religion is an ignorant statement. If you listen to the AP interview with Anthony, he says that he was raised in a strict Roman-Catholic household. He goes on to talk about a teacher in high school he had that taught about different forms of religion, and how his religion he had grown up with seemed "ridiculous". Also, one of his favorite writers he states is C.S Lewis who did write many books dealing with Christianity. Also, I believe I read that Circa was into reading about philosophy somewhere so this could have an impact on the meanings of their songs as well. The song may or may not be about religion, but there is no doubt that religion has had an effect on Anthony that could influence his lyrics. I don't think Anthony is religious anymore, but he was at one point in his life. So, to simply say that their songs have NOTHING to do with religion is people just being close-minded. |
