it had the exact same effect on me. I can't hear this song without thinking about that scene on the hillside and his character's deep personal emotions. I honestly think it was one of the most important x-file episodes ever made. The culmination with the storyline alone was emotional enough, but I had spent years trying to figure out this song. Now that I have it just moves me to an omniscience of tranquility. |

| Brandi Carlile – Oh Dear Lyrics

The emotion of the song alone, regardless of lyrics describes perfectly what Brandi trying to get across when she put lyrics to it. She is basically trying to reinforce a strength into someone she can truly relate to. By going through the same pains she finds herself transferring herself into the person needing the same rise up. It may not be just about someone she loves but the love for that same need she has and most likely still feels. She's created a fictional person like her other self hence the words 'together you and I forever'. We all have this need to feel binded yet just as her emotions crept her need to balance she finds herself saying 'everyeone is on their own'. Basically this is a story about her own faults and mishaps but finding this almost alter ego within herself to be and love like she once was meant to be yet feels now be the spite of life wanting yet not achieving. |

Sickness was fixing me some
Carved out my heart in the last stall
Now that the damage is done
I never miss it at all
I always thought the last few lines of the song went like that which would make so much more sense. If you carve out your heart in a bathroom stall like it was your love to say and give than lose it like it was as if as nothing. Now that the loss of love is gone and hence 'the damage is done' and to bring in her solo lyrics 'nothing is golden' she would rather feeling emotionless empathy towards what she lost in a love than face the shame and pain of it's reality. She is only further emphasizing the conditional trait of so many who resort, including herself, to drugs and various other deterrents that deprive emotional connection to the consequences and realities of their lives and actions. Like us all, we'd instinctively rather face away than succumb to the shame of out actions or addictions. It only, in this one set of lyrics, is the collection and tendency to culminate in thought the point of her title 'empty'. Emptiness is a trait we can all relate to. My explanation just tends to get more specific. |

| Fiona Apple – Paper Bag Lyrics

This is a great song like the many others of hers because every line has a meaning. To the most of us we can relate to a line or two but for Fiona, she not only is an amazingly naturally talented lyrist but truly gets enveloped in her words. "Hunger hurts but starvin' works when it costs Too much to love". This is her point of the song be lonely sucks but it makes it worth it when it hurts too much to love. She's angry for the latest failure in love but for the countless others that seems to be an endless succession of failures. "Come on, put a little love here in my void He said it's all in your head and I said so's everything but he didn't get it I thought he was a man but he was just a little boy" She needs love like its a fix even if its just a temporary replacement of her depression. She's constantly in her head as most artists are and most don't get that who don't try to. She was further upset because the person she wanted to be her idea was just another disappointment. Every line has a point and what's greater is she knows how to say it in great rhyme and meter. If only more artists were like Fiona.

| Metric – Gimme Sympathy Lyrics

This song is like many of Emily's ways to balance her up and down extreme equation. Every regular line from the chorus is a hint to do then to say do what you like. She feels the inexplicable feelings of feeling young while simultaneously exposing how our 'never grow old' attitude emphasizes what you'd rather be in a decisive matter while hinting song titles throughout the song. She, through hinting loves both bands, and if anyone cared to learn Emily Haines history you would know she'd totally paint it black all over. The tune of this song, especially in its acoustic and early years, pleads sympathy literally. It calls to a calming voice and ear that she is sad and pleading for an absolution of some sort. She needs just a good night of sleep but all she can do is hope. It is this element that makes most greats such striving yet unfulfilled artists who they are. Thank God she hasn't fallen too far from feeling her own music. |

I heard this song live as she warmed up to it in Charlottesville, VA and then as her opening to her concert there. Of all of her songs ever officially recorded and then demoed I think this is by far her best song to date in all retrospects. This song takes me aside and from life like a gentle grace than a pluck from life to an empty serenity with her and the music that makes life seem fragile and make sense. That's the best way I can describe this song especially after my own personal predicaments after first hearing it. The song pulled me through tough times. It is hopeful as well as sorrowful but it is the blend of it melancholy as well as how it is performed that tames its audience into submission to its ultimate purpose. In the end, it is a song that finds you and not one that you seek out to find. Anyone who has heard this song had not likely sought it out since it is not widely known. This is a song that comes through layers, sadly through the rice slice which she was greatly undeserving to be cut from with her talent, to an ear that appreciates her vast talent. To me, rice is great, but I stuck with Lisa. Silent night solo alone was more than moving to push me into your realm. |

You have to take this song religiously whether what your faith. This is meant for when we all gone home as in most as heaven. Most of us die on our weakened states. But weakly, we all go home and as well all trust to know that when those we love weakly in life go home. We stand strong but by those weak in their final days. It is our blesslings that we wish them to 'go home'. This song is just that. Just like all those, just as I, first heard it through the X-Files. This is all about absolution to heaven; home. |

| Dave Matthews Band – Baby Blue Lyrics

This song cannot be taken as a literal representation of any such love or loss in Dave's life. He had been quoted as saying he hadn't even thought of himself of getting over his father's death at the time LeRoi had passed. Life had been this wrecking ball on his obvious fragile heart. Dave, being someone who can sort and disseminate his emotions, however reckless they break through, has a natural gift to catch the rest of us in awe. It took Dave most of his tour to find the strength to play this song and it was because of the emotional ties to it. It is about his lost friend but like most artists tries to turn it into something infatuated so as not to directly release the pain it causes. In retrospect, this is very much about LeRoi but it is also about the emotional state on which Dave was writing under. Losing someone you love very much brings back many other losses from the past. This is a collection for him of those pains. It's a pain he wants to let find happiness and not fester. It's a sad fear of loneliness with a sly relief of absolution. To me, it's one of the most personal and beautiful songs he's written since Grey Street and Stay or Leave. |

A wo/man will come along, like the touch of grace, who will come along. They will know from the start of their lives that they were different and special but yet deny their gifts. See it but not show it all. Yet as life and fate will dictate right, they will find their binding cores for two is not enough as one. A righteous side for both to beileve. This is what they will have to surrcom to. A world they already know and how it will end but know that they were born to change it back to what we wish we knew. I time without the turmoil but the idiocracy of change for we aren't solid enough to find a solitary running core. They must bind to make us whole again for the world will tear it apart. Laugh what you will at my word in hidden lyrics but this is the way it will be and those outside that circle will be none the wiser since those who beg to know and those who coudl care less will be one while those destined to see will know how it will end all along and be blessed to save us... |

This was my grandfather's favorite song with me and he was my best friend. I heard it minutes on the radio before my sister called me telling me he'd passed on; a cliche to the letter but one that couldn't be without any more importance. We tend to seek meaning in words to give it a relation to our own and this one truly defines our entire friendship. We use to love listening to it on our long road trips and it culminates our adventures. He was an amazing mind with kind understanding; he was everything to me. His loss was my hardest to date but he came to me for weeks every night in my dreams after; his message to cope and be ok. So for me, this song has that meaning and I pray that more people find such a cling no matter what song does it for them. |

It's a bittersweet as if the loss was somehow fleeting yet freeing her soul. The man lost for she is gone and now so is his very core. For her, she is free finally, as if from this very earth to journey past the confines of the physical and finally feel bliss. the mellow mood is somehow soothing yet a melancholoy of sadness while holding a glimmering shade of happiness in its hopeful upbeat voice and therefore sight of light. the music video often dictates what the writer is feeling and it is of re-birth and rejoice for anew; perhaps it is a sign of both death that brings another new birth of love. |

It's about losing someone close to you but knowing that they're never really gone. It gives you the thoughts you're feeling but in return a way out. Everyone has lost something no matter how important but it is meant for those who have lost someone particularly important and/or close to them. For me, it is a great message for I've experienced such a loss recently and it has put certain things into perspective. |

When I saw her in concert, she mentioned her inspirtation for the song it came from the tv show 24. Now as with all songs comes a variance of meanings but to from her mind to your ears is the deliverance of the time which comes running hard and each and every second with which those who are facing dyer delimmas must face. Now that as a face value of subjective meaning can take prescedence to a number of things but overall it is written as a theme song for that show; take what you will to make it fill your purpose for it. |
