All these people that say 'this can't be about jesus because such and such wasen't invented' obviously don't understand the idea of a metaphor. If we are taking everything literally then Jesus falls at the first hurdle of not being A GENERAL OF AN ARMY. However he was a leader of men who a lot of people trusted and respected which is most people are referring to when they say its about Jesus. I don't think it is about Jesus personally but I'm not saying it definately isn't. Great song, I think its more to do with picking your battles and knowing when to cut your losses for something pointless rather than lose alot for something unworthy. |

to me, this symbolises the idea that beautifal things should be left in the imagination as the reality of it is usually more complex or less attractive than first imagined. Sometimes 'Ignorance can be Bliss' but I can't put it better than "So many fewer questions when stars were still just the holes to heaven" |

Just the greatest song. If nothing gets you hyped up and ready to punch someone while takiong swigs of whiskey, nothing will.
The song, in my view, is an obvious stab at the american government and indeed most of the world's government. The idea is that greed and money have overtaken the more important things. the sad thing is that this has become so widely accepted that people are almost programmed to think like this, thus being robots |
