I think this song, in my opinion, very obviously talks about Peter's denial of Jesus. Jesus told Peter that Peter would deny him three times: Mark 14:30 "'I tell you the truth,' Jesus answered, 'today–yes, tonight–before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.'" But Peter said in Mark 14:31, "...'Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.'" But as Jesus said, Peter did disown Him three times: Mark 14:72 "Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: 'Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.' And he broke down and wept." The definition of providence: 1. The foreseeing care and guidance of God or nature over the creatures of the earth. 2. God, esp. when conceived as omnisciently directing the universe and the affairs of humankind with wise benevolence. 3. A manifestation of divine care or direction. Jesus didn't tell Peter that he would disown Him three times thinking it as just a possibility. It was already planned out. Jesus knew that Peter would disown Him, but he also knew that Peter wouldn't completely fall away. Everything was planned out so that Peter would be taken care of in the long run. That's my interpretation of this song. |

| I like how this guy complains about a song that has Christian lyrics when the song comes from a Christian band. It's like he doesn't expect it. | |

| Sorry to tell you winter_165, but you're actually very wrong. Listen to the rest of their songs, look at their website, do some research before you make an unstable claim like that and end up making yourself look stupid. | |

I actually think this song is talking about where you stand in your faith. Either you're with God or you're not. No sitting on the fence. "I'd rather take a shot in the chest Than take a shot in the back At least I'll see it coming And I'll know where I'm standing at To get shot down by your own is such a crying shame So watch your back no matter what side you take" - In other words, I need to know where I stand rather than changing here and there. "To get show down by your own" in my opinion is "shooting yourself in the foot." "It feels like a suicide" remember. "I'm caught in a crossfire It feels like a suicide The heat's closing in on me When it's down to the wire Your life on the line Will you save me from this Chaos surrounding me" - You've got two choices, pick one or the other. The time is coming so you need to make a final choice. Your life depends on it. "You call yourself a soldier But you've never put your toe to the line Cause when the banner flies You're too afraid to ride You hang me out to dry You never rendezvous Eyes in the back of my head They'll be watching you You've got me caught up in a crossfire" - This is where the fence comes in. You say you're a Christian and act like it on Sundays, but the rest of the week you sure don't act like one. You're lukewarm. "I would take death before I deny you I would cheat death just to stand by you I would fear death if I couldn't see you I would take death before I deny you Death before deny" - I've made my choice, I'm sticking with you God. No matter what the case, no matter what the troubles, pain, and problems that come my way. I'll stick it through. |
