I think this song is so beautiful and first perfectly with Edward's point of view. I think it's about how Edward thinks he's damned, and Bella still comes to him and wants him. "She said 'let me sign'" I think is when Bella tells him she wants to be a vampire he thinks of it as her wanting to sign her soul away. It's "bittersweet" for both of them because Edward finally has someone to complete him but (in his eyes) it means taking away her soul. And for Bella she's found someone to complete her but it means giving up her family and friends. Despite the "bitter" parts neither of them can stay away, like when "her hands are all twisted"but she's still "pointing at me", the path is twisted, but it's clear how she wants it to end, and how it will end, despite any resistance. The song is so amazing and that part of the movie makes me cry. I love Rob's voice and I wish he'd write more ^_^ |

This song is on Stephanie Meyer's (the author of the Twilight series) playlist for the book Eclipse. I'm pretty sure she means it to be from the character Jacob's point of view. In the story Jacob and Bella fall in love, but Bella loves Edward more and picks him over Jacob. They ave to say goodbye to each other, but they're still in love. "So call it quits or get a grip You say you wanted a solution but you just wanted to be missed" this is the guy telling her to make a choice, figure out what she wants. "You are the smell before rain You are the blood in my veins" This is great for the comparison to Jacob. She was everything to him and he could have been everything for her, but she chooses Edward. |

this song is on Stephanie Meyer's (the author of the Twilight series) playlist for the book Eclipse. There it's intended to be from the character Jacob's point of view. In the story Jacob and Bella fall in love, but Bella loves Edward more and ends up choosing him over Jacob. There's a terribly sad scene where Jacob and Bella say goodbye to each other and this song fits it perfectly. They are still in love, and that was a mistake they didn't mean to make and it just makes it incredibly hard on both of them. |

i think lemondropofdoom is right. I found this song on Stephanie Meyer's (the author of the twilight seres) playlist for "Eclipse" and I'm pretty sure she meant it as from Jacob's point of view. In that case... Jacob loves Bella, Bella loves Edward (she also loves Jacob, just not as much) Jacob is singing to Edward. He doesn't get why she loves him so much, but he can't do anything about it. so he wants to make it hard for Edward. |
