| Tool – Parabola Lyrics

Holy shit. What amazing comments, especially by mindblow. I was virtually having goosebumps after each sentence you had written! The illusion of what life means, of trying to define things and forcing people to adhere to it through religion, of "educating" children for the first 20 years of their life and restricting them from having sex - I wonder if any God would have wanted that...
I am just glad that Tool helps me in reminding that I shouldn't just go to my 8 to 5 job every single day, but once in a while ponder about the beauty of life and all things that surrounding me. I used to do that when I was a little teenager, now I am just another sprocket in the fucking machine - the machine that does nothing other than help other machines to work more efficiently. Thank you Tool, for making my life a little less miserable... |

I would go as far to say that this is the best doom metal song ever. Lyrically? Maybe not. But there is a word for such masterpieces - Epic. Period. |

I wonder if they didn't put this song on an album on purpose. What if the song is actually about the talented artists who don't go mainstream and thus so many good songs remain obscure? Maybe this song was made to prove the point that such a good song is not be heard by everyone.
I know, it sounds insane! But I would like to think that it is true, just because this song is so beautiful and filled with melancholy. |

This has to be the most straightforward yet amazingly awesome Tool song. This is the only song that I hold comparable to Lataralis. Being an Indian, I love the Tabla solo at around 4:05. Otherwise this is a pretty simple description of what a human being thinks throughout his whole life - Competition - How do I beat the other monkey? |

Thanks a lot guys for all the info. I really don't know how to decode these lyrics. After coming here, I am now able to appreciate Opeth at another level.
And I thought that Dirge for November was one of their obscure songs. Hmmm, but by the looks of it, I was wrong. And I am glad... |

What a violent beginning and what a beautiful finale. This was my favorite Opeth song for quite some time. Respect. |

| Opeth – To Bid You Farewell Lyrics

As someone had already said some 5 years ago in this forum, this is the song that got me into Opeth. At that time, I had a block against growling and metal in general. But I heard this song and I was so moved by it. It was about the same time Opeth came out with the Damnation album. So I listened to all their tracks.
Finally, I tried listening to some heavier songs. It was difficult initially, but I listened to it anyway, just because it was Opeth. Now, a couple of years later, my favorite songs of all time include Deliverance, When, Funeral Portrait etc... And i owe it all to "To Bid You Farewell" |

The greatest song in human history. I have never found a song that makes me go into a space journey like this one.
The version of the lyrics mentioned here are from their first album, titled Tarquin's Seaweed Farm(1989). Terrible album :P .The version I am talking about is Staircase Infinities.
Such an under-rated song! So so so under-rated. The song kicks in only at around the 3:15 mark. Till then we have the build-up. And the climax is... Well, I can't describe it, I am listening to it right now. So should you... |
