heart and soul seem to be metaphors for Ian's wife and lover. the whole song fits, too. "instincts that can still betray us" - he never wanted to love both of them, he didn't choose it. "a struggle between right and wrong", because he couldn't choose only one. "one will burn" - he didn't have any idea of what was going to happen, but something would happen eventually. and so on... |

i'd love to think this is about a relationship that didn't work out fine, because that's how i feel about it, it makes me think of one of mine relationships and it fits perfectly. but... no, this is about drugs. real lives are the reason why we do drugs, and we always have to say goodbye and go back to real lives. "one last time before it's over" is like, one last shot. but it's never the last one, because when you look back to times like these, when you were stoned, you can't really FEEL stoned, so you have to use the drugs again. you never "remember how it feels". that's why you do this again. |

i agree with hana187, although i think "burn the blue eyes" makes the song much more powerful. i mean, if you've heard armageddon you'll get the thing about the blue eyes, and it's beautiful.
anyway, i dont think it's "i praised in demise" too. it's just not right.
and the "tamiga" thing, well... i live in brazil. here, "amiga" is a female friend ("amigo" is a male one). me and a friend were discussing about what "tamiga" could mean, and we figured that out, because cocorosie lyrics often mix other languages in them... maybe it's just "sweet amiga", and the T came out of the "sweet" thing... well, anyways. i'm just taking a guess.
we have to consider that this song was transcribed only once, too. it's hard to say for sure... |

"But the rest isn't as clear - some mixed up images, i thought maybe visions of heaven or the end of the world but guess they're just random delusions."
read the first comment, by qwepoi. they're describing a k-hole experience. it's no especulation, it's simple and very very clear. |

i think you're right. it seems to me that in the first part she is trying to convince herself and others of her mother's love, then in the second part the music changes tune, she seems to be all alone, and thinking by herself she realizes that it's a lie. it's like a prayer. |
