| Evanescence – The Only One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Someone before said 'the lies of a secular person'. Being secular and athiest myself, I find that a little offensive. Evanescence have said they do not want to be affiliated with Christianity or any other religions. It's not an unknown fact. I really do not see any religious meanings to this. I haven't figured out what it could mean yet, but I'm working on it. I like the suicide idea, as with the idea on Bush. |

| Evanescence – Before The Dawn Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I really like the vampiric meaning some people have put to this song, but I think of something a little different. From the first time I listened to this sing the music at the start reminded me of a coral reef at night, and so I think of a love between some sort of mermaid or siren and a man. Amy's voice is so beautiful here it could well be a siren's and I can imagine one sitting on a rock in a calm sea at night singing it. Anyway, this is probably my favorite Evanescence song. It's hauntingly beautiful. |

My favorite part of TLK is when they start singing this song. Ah-dor-a-ble and so romantic! ...I love Alice in Wonderland and TLK equally. |

| Disney – Kiss the Girl (The Little Mermaid) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is such a cute song! I love it! Ha, if it was me, I'd just yell out 'KISS THE FREAKING GIRL ALREADY'. xD I don't like Ashley Tisdale's version. Seriously, she could try ruining her own songs. Why try to kill the Little Mermaid? |

| Tori Amos – Silent All These Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've been listening to this song since I was very, very young. I can't remember a time I didn't know it. But I've never thought of it about being about rape or pregnancy. 'I've got the anti-christ in the kitchen yelling at me again' 'Yes I know what you think of me you never shut up' I thought both lines referenced to the same person, a family member. (Just so you know - I don't even fully know what I think of this song, so my interperetation will be very obscure, especially since it's 3am.) I always imagined the family member to be female, maybe her mother or grandmother. Whomever it is has always shown open dislike to her. The girl has always been shy, quiet, and never really sttod up to herself. 'My dog won't bite if you sit real still' I thought dog meant her biggest, most prominant problem in life - the one the stung the most. She thinks that maybe if you sit still enough, stay in the same position with the problem all the time, it won't hurt her. 'Excuse me but can I be you for a while?' I imagined her thinking about saying that to any random stranger - just to be them, even for a bit, to have a break from the trauma of her life (whatever that trauma may be). I think maybe she might be in love with a man who is caught between her and another woman. 'So you've found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts What's so amazing about really deep thoughts?' Referencing said other woman, and saying that she herself has deep thoughts all the time - what's so unusual about them? 'Boy you best pray that I bleed real soon.' 'Bleed' I think is find some way to let all her pent-up thoughts and emotions escape or bleed out from her, out into the open where he can know them. 'Do you think there's a heaven where the screams have gone?' Asking her love if he thinks there's a place or if there will be a time when she will have no reason to scream. 'But what if I'm a mermaid,' Proposing to everyone that she may not be the shy, quiet pushover-and-walkover they think she is - she may be something similar yet completely different (mermaids are similar to humans, yet different). I also really loved how someone before me here said that she feels like she is drowning in her problems but what if she's a mermaid and can breathe and swim away from it? 'In these jeans of yours with her name still on them But I don't care 'cause sometimes I hear my voice and it's been Here Silent all these years' She can still see the marks the other woman has left on her beloved but she doesn't really mind - when she's around him she finds it easier to say exactly what she thinks without being scared. 'Years go by Will I still be waiting For somebody else to understand? Years go by If I'm stripped of my beauty And the orange clouds raining in my head Years go by Will I choke on my tears Till finally there is nothing left? One more casualty You know we're too easy, easy, easy ' She's wondering how long it will be before all of this can stop, and she can stop 'choking on her tears' so it doesn't look like she wants to cry. And as time passes and people age, some may see themselves as being stripped of their beauty - wrinkles, grey hair, etc. Will her love still love her then? Maybe she feels like parts of their love are dying, one-by-one, and they're not putting up a fight to get rid of it - one more casualty could end it all and they're to easy in letting it go. 'Well I love the way we communicate Your eyes focus on my funny lip shape Let's hear what you think of me now' She's finally explained her inner turmoil to her beloved and she's thinking about how she loves that it's so easy to talk to him. But after finding out her secrets, what does he think of her now? 'Your mother shows up in a nasty dress And it's your turn now to stand where I stand Everybody lookin' at you Here, take hold of my hand Yeah, I can hear them' Maybe just when she least needs it, someone she doesn't want shows up - maybe lots of people she knows, and all of them heard her pour her heart out. But instead of her, they're all staring at the man, waiting for his reaction. He doesn't like it, so she does something that saves him from it, telling him she knows what it's like but she's used to it and yes, she can hear whatever criticisms that are being hurled at them. But she doesn't mind. What if she's still something completely different to what they all think, with her love who still has the mark of the other woman on him, and realises that now, after letting it all out, she can finally use her voice, and doesn't have to hide anymore. She's heard out loud everything she's been through, and she now knows that she is strong. I can identify with my meaning of the song, though not directly. I feel that people don't see me as I really am, that I hide a lot of myself from them. I don't usually speak my feelings, although many people would say that I do. It only seems that way. They'd be surprised to know how much I keep from everyone. My way of escape is my imagination - and I imagine that my little nameless girl I made up for this song does too. So yeah. This has really gotten my thoughts in order. That's my very very very long two cents. I know Tori said herself it was about her rape. I'm allowed to have my own interperetation, right? |

I can't stop listening to this song. It's so powerful and emotional, and I'm glad I know the story behind it. The part where Jess sniffles is so cute and sad. Brilliant song. |

| Muse – Starlight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is my favorite Muse song ever. It's so wonderful for so many reasons: the music, the lyrics, how it's sung... I just love it. | |
| Muse – Falling Away with You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is so beautiful. I think I want this played at my funeral, since no one would let me have Let's Dance to Joy Division. I love it so much. | |

'Lets not forget Ian Curtis killed himself.' What in the name of fuck does that have to do with anything? |

| The Wombats – Let's Dance To Joy Division Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I actually loathe and detest the band Joy Division, and thin k this song is clever, catchy and awesome. "Let's dance to Joy Division And celebrate the irony Everything is going wrong, but we're so happy" Brilliant. I love it. Anyone who thinks this song isn't good just because they mention that band (which is a pile of crap in my opinion) needs to get over themselves. This song rocks. I love The Wombats. |

| M.I.A. – Paper Planes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song. Too catchy. Freakin' awsome. | |
| SoKo – I'll Kill Her Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The meaning is pretty self-explainitory... But her accent is so cute! My mum and I had this huge argument over weather she's Japanese or French... I reckon she's French. The cuteness of her accent and the bitterness in the song is an interesting contrast (I love the bit where it goes 'he'll pay for beautiful surgery 'cause he's full of money'. Very cute). | |
| Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The first time I heard this song, thought thought of Elvis, but the only sense from the lyrics I can make of that is the 'who would ever want to be king' part. But now that I've listened to it a few times, I really don't think it's about Elvis, or any particular moments of relevance in history. It's a metaphor to me. I think it's about someone who had everything - maybe true love, maybe regal leadership - and lost it. It has a whole range of interpretations, but I think it's really quite vague. | |
| Saving Jane – Girl Next Door Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I like how almost every girl who has been in highschool can relate to this song. I know I can at the moment. Isn't it funny that girls who are the biggest bitches end up being loved by everyone when the nice ones who aren't necessarily 'uglier' than the populars are ignored? My friends and I have gone to the same school as all the populars and still barely any of them know our names. I'm sure people feel similarly. The song explains itself really. But I'd rather be the girl next door than Miss America. |

Smile.dk seems to like bugs a lot... xD I'm pretty sure this song speaks for itself. I love it. |

| Superchick – Stand In The Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song. It tells you to stay as strong as you can, promising blue skies after the rain. But how is it about god or Christianity? I don't want my views on it to be tainted because of this. I'm not exactly the number #1 believer of god... | |
| ABBA – Slipping Through My Fingers Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| When I first heard this song tears came to my eyes. It describes wonderfully how a mother must feel watching her daughter grow up. I wonder if my mother feels that way about me... | |
| ABBA – I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I reckon it's about marriage. Where else do you concern both love and the words 'I do'? | |
| Flo Rida – Low Lyrics | 17 years ago |

D: I've heard this song too much. Rap is retarded. And this one is demeaning to women. And what the hell is a rebox? |

| Pink – Runaway Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Simply, she's running away from someone. Boyfriend, family, whatever. I absolutely love this song, the music, the lyrics, everything. I'm only 13, so I haven't seriously thought about running away from anything (I've had my fair share of fights with my mother though ;D), but I think i might be able to relate to this song as my adolecence progresses. | |
| Pink – Long Way To Happy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Y'know, I never actually thought of this song as being about a rape until I read this page. I always imagined it as a one-night-stand that, for her, turned into something much bigger than she expected. 'One night to you, lasted six weeks to me' Might mean that he considered it a no-strings-attatched, purely-for-fun night, while she kept agonising over it for six long weeks. 'Just a bitter little pill now, just to try to jo to sleep' could mean a sleeping pill, like StilNox or variations thereof. The song could talk about how she's scared of getting into another relationship because she's scared of getting screwed over. Maybe she thought the night meant something, while he didn't. But I can see how people connect the song to a rape. It does make sense. |
