I think that this song is also about death. They are saying how painful it is to try and live without the person that they love. it is about loss and how sometimes the one thing that we want is the one thing we can't have... I always thought that this song was about a couple who have been in a serious accident where the girl is perhaps dying and the boy is pleading with her to open her eyes and be with him... "All this feels strange and untrue And i won't waste a minute without you..." Life seems so unfamiliar to him and he doesn't want to live in a world without her "My bones ache my skin feels cold And i'm getting so tired and so old The anger swells in my guts And i won't feel these slices and cuts..." He has also been injured in the accident but it completely numb until he knows that she is going to be ok. "I want so much to open you eyes Cos i need you to look into mine..." Wants he too wake up so badly and be ok because he can't live in a world without her. "Get up, get out, get away from these liars Cos they don't get you soul or your fire Take my hand knot your fingers through mine And we'll walk from this dark room for the last time..." Perhaps the afterlife and he wants her to get away from it because they don't deserve her soul, he wants her to wake up and walk away with him. "Every minute from this minute now We can do what we like anywhere I want so much to open your eyes Cos i need you to look into mine..." He is saying that if she just wakes up then they can do whatever they want forever, together. His plea again for her to just open her eyes and he can tell her that everything will be fine. "All this feels strange and untrue And i won't waste a minute without you..." The repeat of this line always makes me think that the girl has died and the man is saying this again because without her he has no reason to live and perhaps doesn't want to live in a world without her... That is my interpretation on these lyrics...the story i create when i listen to it... |

To me the whole song is explained in the title. He is simply singing to whoever it is that is in trouble or grief and is saying that not matter what, he will be there and will always try and fix them... I agree that this song is about addiction and a two people's struggle with it. There is some much emotion behinds these words and i absolutely love this song. This song is so beautiful...i agree with Shades_Of_Grey's view on what it's about. I have different interpretations on the story though, depending on my mood. My favourite interpretation on this song is that it is about a relationship between a boy and a girl that have broken up. The boy is still in love with the girl but they are just friends. He watches her from a far and can't get over her..."I can't take my eyes off of you..." He cares a lot for her and wants her to be happy and find love again but it isn't coming..."No love, no glory, no hero in her sky..." Because they are friends they often spend time together and forget all the troubles that they had and just remember the good times..."We'll both forget the breeze, most of the time..." She perhaps still loves him in a way and when they are together she wonders why the ever broke up and if they belong together but deep down she knows they have to move on..."Oh, did i say that I loathe you? Did I say that i want to leave it all behind?"... He'll always love her and can't stop thinking about her, his love is endless until he finds someone to replace her..."I can't take my mind off of you, my mind, my mind...Till i find somebody new..." Thats just one of my interpretations on it, probably different to others but that's what I think when i listen to it. Just a beautiful song that i can never get sick of listening too... |
