I agree that the song is sarcastic. People singing protest songs obviously isn't going to put an end to a war, even one as purposeless and brain numbingly stupid as the Iraq war. It's also a bit ironic, seeing as this song could be considered a protest song as well. But I also believe that it's important for people to hear songs like this and understand what they're saying. Especially lines like "Civilian casualties had been a cost that was predetermined." and "There was purpose to be served, there were fortunes to be earned." If only there were more bands who could get music like this out there, to make people more aware of what the hell is even going on. It's scary how uneducated people are about this war, and how willing people are to believe what they're told by biased journalism and a corrupt government. |
