| Pink Floyd – Waiting for the Worms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Regardless of what it actually means, I pictured something horrible (the mad German yelling, i.e. Hitler) snowballing out of control with support from others (the chants). What that something horrible is I have no idea, but it's interesting reading the responses from others. The pain seems complex. |

| Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Personally, this is above and beyond anything we experience here on Earth. But if you want to relate it to every day life, these lyrics could be THE MEDIA talking to us. |
| The Temper Trap – Science of Fear Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Kennygrandeur, I think you nailed it on the head. I thought the SAME thing when I heard this song. 9/11. my ears my eyes my brain is slowly bustin black smoke red sky the television's sayin downhill head on another crash is comin How can you not? |
| The Smashing Pumpkins – Disarm Lyrics | 14 years ago |
'So old in my shoes' Had to grow up fast because of people disappointing him/taking advantage of him. 'Disarm you with a smile, leave you like they left me here' His defense being his charismatic nature, only to do to others what was done to him as a boy: To abandon. |
| Pink Floyd – Learning to Fly Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I thought it meant either an alien arriving at Earth or a human leaving Earth for good. Very lonely and a very spiritual feeling when listening to this. A good feeling. | |
| Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think it's about a relationship break up, perhaps to insecurities from the other side. Like, yeah, that's what I'm waiting for, huh? Why don't we just get it over with? Mishaps are sinking ships... little things are a big deal - the both of them testing each other, to see if they're for reals, of fear of getting hurt. In the end, they chose to over analyze the negatives and not highlight the positives, KNOWING they were doing so, 'That's what we're waiting for' |
| Tool – Mantra Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The first thing I thought of when I heard this was that old (fake) picture of the loch ness monster... the black and white one. as if this is the noise it would make underwater... If anything, Tool sparks imagination... |
| Iron Maiden – The Number Of The Beast Lyrics | 17 years ago |
it's about Satanism from someone else's perspective. Also seems as though the individual is 'mesmerized' by it all. Or... it could just be paranoia. |
| Pearl Jam – Of the Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with all above... when it went to chorus I was almost bummed out. Just 5 mins of the tone and vibe of the song would have been cool. Probably my favorite song on Binaural | |
| Pearl Jam – Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
After reading all the comments it's interesting the thoughts it provokes. Vedder is amazing at doing that, so he succeeded again in an odd way. BRY89 above, has a good point. It's his (their) own personal art. it's just creepy as hell because the girl sounds like she's about 8 years old and it gives me chills. 10,000 days (Rosetta Stoned) it was like himself describing the thoughts his brain were falsely translating after taking drugs, which obviously he knew was out of character later. This girl/woman whatever - this is their life. Makes you wonder if it's all normal to them? Or are they living actual hell here on Earth. |
| Pearl Jam – Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I applaud those who could actually listen to this whole thing... Or are you also sick? Any case... let's move on. | |
| Pearl Jam – Better Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |
She CAN find a better man. And she KNOWS this. But 'She feeds him'. She feels the need to take care of this guy for whatever reason. He has become her obligation in her own mind. |
| Pearl Jam – Bugs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Eddie Vedder is F***ing AMAZING. So even with crappy music drumming and accordion he recites these lyrics which make you think about a million different things he could be correlating this to. But I think he's talking about... Bugs :) | |
| Pearl Jam – Corduroy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is a big reason why I think Eddie Vedder will grow to a John Lennon like following when he's gone (please, not for another 100 years, please God). | |
| Pearl Jam – Nothingman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I would listen to this song and not really pay attention to the lyrics... I just listened to it while reading them and I had one of those 'I-actually-had-my-jaw-drop' moments. It's bittersweet. | |
| AFI – The Leaving Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love this song... I think it's about someone leaving in shame, pouring everything into something that just doesn't work out and knowing it's time to part ways. 'heard them say poison hearts will never change walk away again' I think "them" are people giving advice to him that it wont work. 'Walk away again' - indicated he's given up before and might return again leading up to: 'all the cracks they lead right to me and all the cracks will crawl right through me'... Meaning he knows it will lead to another meeting perhaps. |
| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Don't know if you solved this song, but you kinda just hit the nail on the head as far as relationships. It's timing, and who says we can't control when? If you give your love and take it away, it feels like 'wasted time'. Don't stop giving and even if they don't take it, it makes you stronger for putting yourself out there. btw lorelie- Hope all is well with you after the car accident? |
| Bob Dylan – I Believe in You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Bob Dylan is such a great story teller.. and isn't it true that when you believe in someone it's different than WANTING to believe in someone. | |
| The Spill Canvas – All Over You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If she could love him back his life would be perfect, but instead, he's nothing special to her, and he's feeling all these emotions... Not a big fan of emo or whatever you want to call it, but this song is strong. I like it. | |
| Pearl Jam – Last Kiss (Wayne Cochran cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
About 6 years ago one of my best friends died in a car accident... Crazy to think he'd be my age today. But to me, he's still 19, and gone. I saw him a few days before he died, and I recall seeing the girl who hit him (she ran a stop sign) at a party a few months after and I felt sick. He wasn't my 'baby' :P But a good song in remembrance of a true buddy... RIP Stewey |
| The Doors – Ghost Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If there was a definite meaning or purpose to the song, it would be great, but either way it's an amazing song... Every once in a while I'll just listen to The Ghost Song like 4 times in a row... I hardly replay any song ever. But the elevator-like music backing up Morrison's poetry/visions is like nothing I've ever heard. Jim Morrison rocks. |
| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
To lorelie (and to others maybe following this diologue): listen to (or just read?) the following beatles song called "fixing a hole". such a good song, what it's about I'm sure you'll know... http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=774 |

| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Sure, she had past relationship problems, but maybe so has he, and maybe he opened himself up to her in such a way that she knew it was vulnerability he was showing to let her know he cares (my last situation). Where is the line drawn? Why take it out on him? Grrr... :P |
| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love is all about timing - He's into her, but she's confused and doesn't know what she wants... then he is frustrated and starts to think that she's playing mind games and backs off... then she basically realizes he was so good to her and she misses him and maybe loves him? If that's what this song means then it just wasn't meant to be... Love isn't supposed to be so damn confusing. Well, maybe it is, I don't know. But this has happened to me before... and by the time she's made up her mind he's the one, He doesn't know if he wants to make himself vulnerable to the same thing happening. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Or am I WAY off base?! haha... |
| MGMT – Kids Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| First time I heard this band I thought, "WHY ARE THESE GUYS POPULAR?!"... then I heard this song. Makes you think back to when things were simple as a kid. Very cool. | |
| The Who – Dr. Jimmy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Love this song - Everyone has their moments of invincibility. But it's much easier to feel that way while high on some stimulant or depressant... There seems to be contemplation of his own character, "Is it me for a moment?", but then his attitude is crying for attention in a destructive manner. That euphoric feeling: "What is it? I'll take it. Who is she? I'll rape it. Got a bet there? I'll meet it. Getting High? You can't beat it." |
| The Who – 5:15 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The song before (I've had enough), he basically described being sick and tired of life's BS... this song then describes, in my opinion, being on drugs and being "Out of my Brain on the train". Notice the tone in Daultry's voice. He's very enthused when singing that line. He's describing the charachter's feelings while being 'out of his brain'. He's excitable, and happy. Note the verse before the chorus: "Magically bored On a quiet street corner Free frustration In our minds and our toes Quiet stormwater M-m-my generation Uppers and downers Either way blood flows." He's bored with life and it's failures and ups and downs and all that. So why not try some uppers and downers... I'm so sure of this because it's how I felt. |
| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
lorelie - well, what I meant was, it's hard to just quit someone when you yourself make that person more of a priority than yourself... when you care that much for them, that you'll sacrifice things you never would have sacrificed for anyone else... yet, you feel as if you're not going anywhere, stuck in the same place or taking one step forward and two back. I'm getting off track a bit but the point is, you can only give someone so many chances before it gets old, right? |
| The Who – The Dirty Jobs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I work in the medical field, and this song it close to me because it feels like I get pissed on for trying to do good things... but tough sh*t. The 2nd to last verse is what I think of - do more for myself than for others. But "I'm not gonna weep again". Such an inspirational song for me. |
| The Who – I'm One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song plays in my head when walking through the local mall ;) | |
| The Who – The Punk And The Godfather Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| First time I heard this song I didn't know why it wasn't included with some of the greatest songs... just a solid song. Not sure what it's about really, but my first instinct was the Government's propaganda. Weather it be true or not, they do have the media (power) to inspire... or in this case, belittle us or intimidate. | |
| The Who – Cut My Hair Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This reminds me of anxiety... different than being anti-social. It's always being an excitable mood, and this guy's drug use: "I clean my room and my shoes But my mother found a box of blues" and (I think) "I'm coming down Got home on the very first train from town." (Coming down off his meds.) |
| The Who – The Good's Gone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Self explanatory. LOVE this song | |
| The Who – Pure And Easy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is about the euphoria that music brings us... as seen here: "The noise that I was hearing was a million people cheering, And a child flew past me riding in a star." |
| The Who – Happy Jack Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This kid avoided peer pressure because he didn't care what others thought. He laughed at bullies and their attempts to ruin his mood. Totally secure. | |
| Bob Dylan – Positively 4th Street Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is about that fake person - you know, the one who loves your attention around others... | |
| Jason Mraz – I'm Yours Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Ok, so I'm thinking: his breath fogging up the glass = this girl (the mirror) just got so frustrating to him, and he couldn't understand her logic or what her thoughts were (fog) as why she was taking her time with him. drew a new face and laughed = He's now gotten to the point where other girls (the face) are interesting to him again, thus not as attached to this scorpion woman he describes in this song, and his laughter is him knowing he got over it and is happy with the fact he doesn't have to worry about it anymore. that's what I think because that's how I feel about a certain someone. |
| The Bravery – Time Won't Let Me Go Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm not into today's popular music, more into classic rock (60's-80's), and grunge rock, but the Bravery impresses me so much. I love this song, and I love them... So many regrets, so little time to fix the way you feel. For me, such a melancholy song. |
| The Bravery – No Brakes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's like when you are into someone so much that you finally don't even care that you make yourself vulnerable to being hurt. Leave it up to you - Letting her know how you feel even when they might not be into it. Is it a crush? |
| Bob Marley and the Wailers – Could You Be Loved? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Look, with all the negativity we sometimes deal with in people, in the end it might be hard to care and trust in someone who actually only wants the absolute best for us... This song is about insecurities. |
| Bob Marley and the Wailers – No Woman No Cry Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You can't cry and miss something you've never had... I miss my ex so badly. But I want her to be happy too, and so I walked away in her best interest. (Hey little darling don't shed no tears). Something I regret. |
| Jack Johnson – Flake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Usually when you're at that stage in a relationship (where the stresses of putting in more than you recieve) it's already over. But it's hard to just quit when that person is more of a priority than yourself, isn't it? It sucks. |
| Foo Fighters – Big Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I've been a fan of Foo Fighters since they formed. I searched for loose change around my house (with some help from my sister's piggy bank) to buy "The Colour and the Shape". Big Me was their first hit, and in my opinion, their best song. Simple. | |
| Foo Fighters – Big Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Same with miseryhead, this is the song that set the Foo Fighters off for me and I realized how much an amazing musician Dave Grohl is. "Oh, I'm just the drummer for Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age, and lead singer of Foo Fighters." Is that all Dave? Slacker. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The song title makes me laugh, then the lyrics make me depressed and Danny Carey's drumming makes me in awe. He's AMAZING. | |
| Tool – Jambi Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The 2nd verse is so strong I love it | |
| Kansas – Carry on Wayward Son Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's about life, sometimes it sucks really bad, and we're in the 'ship on the ocean', but we just keep going looking for the storm to clear-- and it will eventually. |
| Led Zeppelin – Going to California Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm not quite sure what it means, but I LOVE this verse: Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams, Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems. Is he building confidence in something seemingly bigger than him? |
| The Who – How Many Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I told my younger sister and bro that you find your true friends AFTER high school.. not during. Love this song. | |
| The Who – Blue, Red And Grey Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The tone and lyrics go perfectly with the ukulele. One of those things where you wonder if that was the intent or it was dumb luck. Whatever the case... Brilliant. | |
