MogeAndDog, I completely agree with you! I just watched 'Tess of the D'urbervilles' yesterday, and immediately thought of this song. It's almost like it was made for that book, even though there are a few parts that don't fit perfectly, but still. At first I thought it described Angel & Tess well, but after listening to the song a bit more, it just screamed Alec D'urberville to me. He raped Tess and in some twisted way thought she loved and wanted him too. Incredibly tragic and depressing story, but worth watching/reading in my opinion.
Anyway, this is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. |

I think it's about a woman who hanged herself while pregnant with the child of the man who's telling the story. And he kind of saw the signs before ("And I was asking if you felt alright/I never want to hear the truth/I want to hear your voice, it sounded fine") There's probably a lot more stuff going on with the song here, a deeper meaning, but that's part of it to me, at least. |
