| Oh I am definitely sure this song is about Maynard's decision to stay with Tool. "giving blood" refers to him continuing to come up with new material. Maynard frequently writes about his position in Tool and the record company's or public's greed. The "faith" he talks about has nothing to do with religion, the word faith always makes people think of religion, it simply refers to him believing he will somehow get something out of his work and that if it was all pointless he would've quit by now. | |

I'm pretty sure it's about him getting drunk, trying to get into a club and then telling off the bouncer when he didn't let him in. "Instilled in your brain you've got something to prove To all the smirking faces and the boys in black" He speaks of how he wouldn't have the courage to say anything had he been sober. "I said a thousand million things that I could never say this morning" Then he realizes he got himself in trouble. "Got too deep, but how deep is too deep?" Also another line to support my theory... "You couldn't have done that on a Sunday" 'cause everyone knows you're not suppose to drink or go clubbing on a Sunday. Well that's my theory anyways, feel free to poke holes. Great song. |
