| this song is almost definitely about an on and off relationship where the girl is wandering off to other guys and doesn't realize what she has. I love how Ben kind of plays with the pronunciation and makes it sound like "wandering = wondering" very metaphoric... or maybe thats just his accent? | |

Reminds me alot of Summer Highland Falls by Billy Joel in the structure of the song. Built on rambling minor chords that are in double time of the melody. To me the song speaks to the goodness in each of us and how even though things get rough and we make mistakes, everything will be alright. Very uplifting. |

I love how he sings so quietly while he says: "But I better be quiet now I'm tired of wasting my breath Carrying on, getting upset" I remember Ben Folds saying one time he asked Elliott why he never yelled in his songs. Elliott said something about how when you grow up in a house full to screaming, you learn to love silence. I love how he can express so much anger and sing basically at a whisper. So missed. |

"We are just a sexual making me an alcoholic relation." To me This line set sup the song to be about a one night stand with a girl he was in love with, but she didn;t end up feeling the same. The nest part of the firs verse: "Words hit much harder than the bullets from a gun, a shovel to the skull, a stab in the spine. Be my valentine, you don't have to say much." Sounds like she's telling him he doesn't feel the same, and he kind of like just shut up and lets make out you can't say anything when my tongues in your mouth. "This machine is so mature, it's so much your type. ': I think line is a play on the phrase "sex machines". He sems to be kind of poking fun at himself, like Im a sex machine, lets go do it some more. I dont know im probably very wrong. |
