I swear this song about watching a friend go downward in his addiction. The first verse talks about how little problems turn into huge ones---don't ignore the warnings (i.e. waves). Furthermore, so many people have tried to help you (i.e. cavalary). Burning the days (using drugs maybe even burning the substance to use it) and carrying on =just going through the motions unnecrssarily as if under the influence. Harvest the pain=using drugs to numb the pain. No control=addicts are powerless over the addiction. "You think the world broke it's promise but it just slipped right though your hands" -i.e. the world isn't a bad place you've had bad experiences and now you are throwing your life away. This song is very deep. Kudos to Scannell for putting honesty in today's world of crappy music. |

| I will say that this one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. This song discusses sorrow in such a tradegically beautiful way. If you just read the lyrics it sounds a little obsessive. However, love is engulfing and can make you do some stupid things (i.e. Ben and Felicity in "Felicity" -this played when Ben broke up with her). Sad, but powerful song. I almost feel like a push-pull in the needs of the person in the song. So amazing. | |

This song is obviously about a poor relationship (hence they played it when Ben broke up with Felicity almost a decade ago!) The blue parade is the misery (as represented by winter and snowflakes of her tears of the relationship) "he don't read stars now"-indicates the future (like astrology) 'cause he's getting old so busy neutralizing so much it leaves me cold-So the love is growing old and cold..he's not into the relationship anymore. "now leaves are falling from the mercy tree" -This is when things are going downhill..she's growing tired and the relationship is getting weak...there's a lack of genuine empathy. "the blue surrounds me so I can get some sleep and Katie calls then she'll say there's good love out there just you wait you" -the ending of the relationship is draining..and in her world it's dark...she's depressed and the world is dark...so she's going to sleep..she doesn't wanna deal with it. Her good friend Katie tries to reassure her that there is good out there---and that she's coming over and warns her not to let anyone in (including her ex!) This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! |

Damn. This song is beyond emotionally overwhelming! This song is so deliciously dirty--PERFECT! Obviously this is Mraz's sexy song about foreplay [obviously his experiences of things that have led up to sex!] and little cute things he likes to do with his girlfriend 'eskimoing kisses'... I find a reoccuring theme in his song: He really seems to worships the women he dates..in this song it's 'you've got it all except for me' - I think it's more than just 'come over here you're perfect do me!' He can 'see her perfectly behind close eyes' and 'he can't recall a better day'...too adorable! She makes him happy--even her calling him and leaving a message saying his name makes him happy! How sweet is that? The knee socks makes me wonder if he has a fetish for school girl type outfits...'all you're wearing is your shoes..' now that. That's ok I'm into that too LOL. "Climb into my mouth now child" :oO! I almost get turned on watching him play this live on youtube.com. My favorite lines are "You know that fortune favors the brave well let me get paid while I make you breakfast the rest is up to you who makes the call"--I have a big smile everytime I hear this line....I'm constantly blasting this song in the car---SO great! Can't wait to see him in concert in a few weeks! |

This song is always on my romantic playlist for music! The images he presents are sort of like 'being on a high' which I'm sure which is from romance and foreplay...he's turned on by a girl and as he made mention in "Butterfly" - he loves seeing his girlfriend dance nude..it's a turn on. He finds beauty in many things--I think he's very humble in saying "I'm just a singer you're the world..all I can bring you is the language of love..." meaning he worships her. I also think he wants to be with her in more than just a physical way--an all around commitment since he says, "You are the queen and king combining everything intertwining like a ring around the finger of a girl" meaning they are one...--maybe engaged/married? 5 out of 5 moons for JM's song. PURE bliss! |

I felt so guilty everytime I heard this song on the radio, because I couldn't say anything without my boyfriend flipping out. | This is on my top 10 on the sad love song list. This song is SO pure, unique, and lovingly bitter. Obviously, Mayer and the female have two different takes on the situation. Neither wanted to break up--but he's letting go. It sounds like they believed they were in love, but Mayer indirectly cries out, "I can't take anymore--how many times can we do this..it's unhealthy..we're over I'm sorry". This song is SO vivid, so heartwrenching, and UNDERappreciated! This is what souls are made of after the ending of relationships. His ending lines just make me want to weep unendingly...He's a legend. | |

I bawled to this song when I heard it. I love how many people can relate to this song--the comments on here really got me emotional...his music is gold. Anyway...this song reminds me of Marc Anthony's "When I Dream At Night" --similiar message. I think that Mraz is stating that he's waiting for his dreamlover to come and that sometimes the dreams are so good he wants to believe they are real so he wakes up...realizing it's not as good as he thought (hence the 'ditch') and he goes back to bed...probably in hopes he can find 'her' again. I found myself in the riches (Your eyes, your lips, your hair.) Well you were everywhere But I woke up in the ditches. ...the fact that his lover's eyes, lips, & hair (the natural beauty of a woman) are his riches = sentimental and honest. This song is quite vunerable...and I think it'll remain a favorite song while I am also searching for my dream man :( |

| I think this song is PURE emotion! I think the 1st 2 lines indicate that he's been crying like crazy. He's going to miss her like crazy--even if it's been a short period of time. He believes he's found true love..so if the plane crashes he'll know where love was. The 'square of the airport' I bet is a picture message he sends her when he lands...and that they're probably on camera with each other...guiding her through the airport where he is... His vocals on this track are breathtaking. I cried at the end of this song the 1st time I heard it. | |

| This song is about evolution/nature & his family tree. "We're only human so far" and 1923 (the major) is probably a relative since he basically says hes thankful he has a 'branch to swing on' and he wants to pass on his genes by 'giving himself a baby'. I love how he writes about we're only human we make mistakes--and that life will be here after he goes...but we're only human we don't realize how we're hurting the environment. This song is amazing..especially the metaphors at the beginning with the crow/squirrel..amazing meanings behind those too! | |
