To me this (Mr. A) seems to represent someone who over intellectualizes. Someone who was so busy trying to find answers to everything and relying more on empirical evidence and skeptisism and logic to explain the world. He was so caught up in his intellect and work that he forgot how to feel and forgot how to love. Mr. A was a Robot with "no human touch" essentially because Mr. A felt only safe within his mind and couldn't come out and be vulnerable. The narrator (the one saying goodbye Mr. A) sounds like Mr. A's son who was poorly emotionally nurtured so he feels like he must say goodbye or leave to search for someone that can give him nurturing. That's what I get out of it. I could be projecting =p That's why I love this song, I can connect with it so well. |
