I love this song, he seems to want to be with her, and not just for a one night stand or something, he wants it to be something long term and meaningful - only someone you were planning to be with for a long time would be keeping track of the moles on your back really. She doesn't want to be with him (and has a boyfriend) so he's apologising for all the things he's dedicated to her that she didn't want, and choosing someone else at random to declare his love to in future, so that he doesn't keep bothering her with it. Sweet, in a sad sort of way. |

I think the "crazy golf course" line actually fits quite well. It illustrates to me how perfect and simple everything seems to be when you're staring out to sea, but as soon as you turn back to land there's something normal and mundane to bring you back to reality which is nowhere near as nice as the sea |

My interpretation of the song fits with that but you explained it far better than I ever could. It definitely seems to be about depression and the start of it makes the relation to an eating disorder pretty clear too. Does Aleks really have an eating disorder? I'd never heard that before |

this is such a sweet song. as for king of some islands comment, she might have loved hitler but she never wanted war and she wasnt necessarily a traitor. people will do stupid things for love - romeo and juliet are a perfect example |

"a swindler who lies cos he wants to see you smile, have a good time, be inspired" reminds me of my ex so much - we still text quite a bit and he'll randomly just send a text saying "be happy :)" also connect him with "you dont have to say you're sorry you dont owe me anything" as he's constantly apologising for nothing, and things that are/were completely out of his control |

I agree with what some people have said about this - I think it's about self harming. There's a guy whose girlfriend recently broke up with him and he wishes she hadn't and that he could tell her about his self harming addiction (and yes, it is an addiction) He wants her to know who he really is, rather than the front that he puts up to protect himself from people judging him for what he does. Lots of people do it because their life seems unreal or out of control, and this is the one thing they think they can control. "When everything feels like the movies/ And you bleed just to know you're alive"
That might sounds like a weird theory to some of you, but it makes sense to me, because I've been there and lived through it. Its a hard thing to admit to doing, so lots of people lie about it and put up a front to hide it from people who might want to help. |
