I definitely agree that this song is about some sort of disfunctional relationship. It's so painfully uncertain.
I agree that this song is incredibly brilliant, and that not every song needs to spoon-feed the meaning to the listener. Again, amazing song, amazing lyrics. |

I don't know if the lyrics to the explicit version is booze to tears, but that's what it always sounded like to me when I listened to it. I think "booze to tears" or "boos to cheers" are both great. I love the entire song right from the start. MGMT is incredibly talented and I would definetly not mind more of them in my life. |

i don't think it is very clear what this song is about. i think it's however the listern interperets it. I agree with most the people here who say this song is about getting to the bottom of a certain problem or realizing the world is too beautiful to give up. this song always seem to creep into my head when i have something that's hard to deal with going on. i love this song. saves the day has the perfect way of making something so sad sound so beautiful. |

I'm probably way off, but to me it seemed like when when he was taking about 800 miles being a drive, I thought that the two, I'm assuming, lovers are going together. The whole song gave me an 'us against the world' feel, and bringing in the soldier references made me think that as well. The whole song seems like everything they do is a risk, but they are meant to be together and will be.
