Wow. What a sad, sad song. Do not doubt this guy, this kid writes a knockout melody. LISTEN TO HIM. |

I see it as The Beat-esque Europunk? I don't think it matters what genre it is, I just love the song. Perfect message. You people are amazing. |

I really don't like this song. It is a pointless argument against the Indie cult and how having a label in their non-conformist style of culture makes them hypocrites. It fits everything. Indie people tend to have less peers, often follow trends in thrift stores, tend to be judgemental of the music they hear, etc. On a lot of points, he's right. In fact, he's correct about every single person who belongs to that Indie cult who can't do it right. The poor dumbass, unfortunately, doesn't understand the actual core beliefs of the cult and didn't even bother to look into what it is about while almost everyone in Indie can realize a person of his kind with a single look. I'm no Indie guy, myself. I like some of the stuff they produce like I love some of the stuff Say Anything sometimes produces, but this is a thumbs-down for me. He really doesn't need to attract attention to himself in this fashion. He's basically putting down a person who doesn't want to feel bad for being a loner. I mean, wouldn't BEING ALONE be enough? The only thing in this song that wasn't truly stated a million times before is that his ignorance is bliss. Indie people are indeed hypocrites, belonging to a cult with a label, sure, but that's about their only problem. Now, if you really wanted ALL of the benefits, you wouldn't bother with a label and just say that you "like" Indie stuff, along with whatever else YOU like. Don't be judgemental, don't be a hypocrite, don't be a cut-down-inducing asshole, just be you and be happy. |
