| Rise Against – From Heads Unworthy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I'm not exactly sure what this song is about but I recently saw Rise Against and was pretty annoyed with what Tim McIlrath said, leading into this song. He introduced it as a song to the PETA people handing out fliers outside the concert, so not only am I already annoyed by these people feeding me their propaganda that I don't care about: So in that aspect, yes, this is for you guys and I reject your propaganda. "We are the children you reject and disregard These aching cries come from the bottom of our hearts" Second I was annoyed that he took it a step further and supported them on stage. I go to a concert to hear music, not hear your political or personal agenda. That being said, I won't support Rise Against at another show. Rage Against the Machine did the same for me. Just play me your music, the message is in there. |

I love this song. I agree though on two lyrics: "Let's tear away these faces, we hide behind" Makes much more sense than sail. "Cutting through the airwaves" |

| I was reading the Wiki Article on CS Lewis' book and it says this song was based on this novel. I'll have to read it. | |

I think maybe this song is about the struggle of trying to convince people, peers, or the secular world of your view on religion, and how it fails because of numerous reasons, but if you are truly believe in your faith, this struggle can be frustrating. But he does not want to give up hope, or even desert men. Interesting and amazing. |

| Underoath – A Boy Brushed Red ... Living In Black And White Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think you nailed in perfectly. I was thinking the same thing. "can you feel your heartbeat racing? can you taste the fear in her sweat? you've done this wrong, its too far gone, these sheets tell of regret I admit that i'm just a fool for you, im just a fool for you this is where we both go wrong" |

I like how song meanings turned into rip on the current standing of the band. If you don't think chamberlain is legit, check out 'this runs through' the pre-underoath chamberlain project. A great scream. As for this song, I think it's about being in a relationship where neither person ends it but maybe knows it should be ended. Instead they lead a lie, or fake relationship. |

| Alkaline Trio – Continental Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I just saw them and Skiba mentioned this song was about taking a friend to rehab, heroin addiction I believe. Second line says it all 'Too close for comfort, bed and breakfast in a spoon' | |
| Pennywise – Bro Hymn (Tribute) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This is a song about losing a friend and remembering them. Sent this to my mother when her sister died. | |
| Thrice – Blood Clots And Black Holes Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I agree with Deadbolt here. Drugs would be too obvious. I mean the opening line says here is a new drug. What if this song is about media and the truth behind it or lack there of? |

| Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Lollapalooza 2008, Trent Reznor said in intro to playing Hurt Sunday night: "17 summers ago, we got a call from Perry Ferrell to be part of the first Lollapalooza. We were just some young kids from Cleveland who really didn't know what we were doing and it was a great and flattering opportunity to play with some cool bands. And it completely blows my mind that a) I'm still alive. 17 years later..... [...] I'm gonna play a song I wrote at a very dark time. That I wrote for myself...And then gave it to a friend." I think this is about drug abuse, specifically heroin. Self reflection upon the drug abuse, how he regrets it, how if he could, he would change it if he could go back. Perhaps an apology. The emotion he puts into this song when he plays it live is beyond anything that is very deep to him, very personal, so I doubt it just has to do with becoming famous or something trivial. It's a deep song, he shows it, and the lyrics show it. "The needle tears a hole, the old familiar sting. Try to kill it all away, and I remember everything..." Heroin use "Everyone I know, goes away in the end" Either fellow Heroine users, or "friends", or actually friends who he's hurt. "I wear this crown of shit, upon my liars chair. full of broken thoughts, I cannot repair" No matter what he does he cannot take back what he's done. |

| Placebo – Post Blue Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think this song is about drug addiction and battling the addiction and battling with the depression of it: It's in the water, baby 1) Drugs are in your urine if you take them; or 2) Pharmaceuticals are in the water supplies in most areas of the world, so how can you actually battle drug addiction when they are in your water? It's in the pills that bring you down [Downers, Drug reference 1] It's in your bag of golden brown [Addiction in Heroin] It's in your frequency [The more you do, the more addicted you get] It's between you and me 1) Whether you like it or not, it's between us 2) It's between him and the drugs? It's in the pills that pick you up [Amphetamines] It's in the special way we fuck [Addicted to sex?] It's in your family tree [Addiction can be hereditary, coke addiction can pass to an unborn child] Bite the hand that feeds [Not sure...] Tap the vein that bleeds [Heroin? or money for drug use] Down on my bended knees, [Despiration] I'd break the back of love for you [I would do anything for another fix] At first I was thinking this song was about, pregancy but the more I think about it the more it relates to drugs and depression. |

| Placebo – English Summer Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it's either the constant battle of hating yourself, considering suicide, and then breaking down and realizing that isn't the choice that should be made. or, The loss of a loved one, trying get over the fact of somebody close dieing, trying to get through that time of grieving where you're always thinking about them, and it brings you down. |
