Matthew Good – Dancing Invisible Lyrics 17 years ago
i take some of what i wrote back! hes trying to get her through to where he is...and i think what they had was good..the end is saying shes with another man and is pretending that moving on will make it better...she knows thats wrong though..and if you notice the beginning was "we are dancing..." to "you are dancing invisible"... shes tried to move on, and really its a song that sounds simple but i dont think it is at all now that im listening more closely...

wow...no one has commented yet?! I know its an older song..but one of the best off his original old stuff...

basically speaks for itself...we become like everyone else even though we think we are all on this individual journey..we really just end up being adults paying bills..childhood dreams are gone

'the bus ride to meet you here took me half my life'

basically what i get out of this is that getting what you realize is important in life, be it a person, or whatever, ends up taking longer than you planned...its like we waste so much time getting what we want..half our lifes gone by the time it comes..

Personally i think he died..he's not being heard and hes dancing invisible and he never fully got what he wanted, and its like hes eternally trying to get back to her...when he realizes hes not heard, he finally listens and feels her..but its too late either that or he died and she moved on..and they are still connected by his love for her
near the end shes with another man, he took too long to get to her because of distractions

David Usher – St Lawrence River Lyrics 17 years ago
Such a nice song...if you like this one, listen to Mandolin by Moist (same singer)..kind of similar song with what its about.

I agree with your comments...he brings her to the river..even though time has passed, the banks are dirty, and its now winter (an unlikely time for people to be at a lake or a trip ideally)..like as though their unmended issues have frozen and no longer matter, as they are now together
and he makes it up to her in the end...

Also, a different take could on 'downstream and out of town' could be her leading a regular life, perhaps more simplistic, while he lives a materialistic life, perhaps not exactly hollywood as he states..but along those lines, and they have separated..though i like my other explanations because they sound more meaningful

"Under golden light where water's gone
And the water says what water will be done"

I think the girl vanished or died...while he sort of suffers living the typical life that we all lead, which in a sense is dry and unsatisfying. There! any comments, would love too hear

The person he speaks of, if you notice is all nature-based, and when the elevator comes, the person is not there. kindof like a past/present thing where the girls gone..and hes guilty..."much too late to take the blame."
I think the "downstream and out of town" part is her leaving all things human...leaving or dying into what is real or natural. he is in the city, clearly gone from her, and is drifting away, and
"And I don't know where the river takes you
I remember Hollywood"
means he's getting caught up in it all..doesnt know where she went..shes a part of his past...losing the memory and getting caught up in stupid society..lost out on something simple and wonderful. Pretty song, one of the best.
