| Pixies – Here Comes Your Man Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think it's "Dirty Bed Hangs" not Dirty Beard | |
| White Rabbits – Percussion Gun Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I'm leaning towards "you run" over "to run" | |
| The Lemonheads – Rockin Stroll Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| yep, that's pretty much it. | |
| The Lemonheads – Paid To Smile Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| no it's actually about the different music managers and promoters he deals with on the road. The dudes are always trying to carry his guitar and open the door for him...he knows they are insinsere, and later he compares them to cigarette girls...pretty funny. | |
| The Lemonheads – Hannah and Gabi Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| he's just straight up dumping a chic...it's a little awkward now, but it will be over soon. | |
| The Lemonheads – Confetti Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's a great and unique view of divorce | |
| The Lemonheads – Confetti Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's a great song, but the first comment has it right...Evan has even come out and said that. | |
| The Lemonheads – Ceiling Fan In My Spoon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| uhhh, any drugs that you can do out of a spoon? I think you know what's going on here. | |
| The Lemonheads – Bit Part Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| also, don't just assume he wants MORE than a bit part. He might want a bit part in several different ...shows. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| that fits in with the ending lyrics...was it the cure? Shellshocked/hope not. It could have been a very shocking experience for the subject who is hoping that that experience isn't the cure because it's too shellshocking. | |

First of all, I think it's 'shaking' not 'shake it'--you wouldn't have to shake a ladder to the sun, it would already be shaking quite a bit, so it wouldn't make sense to give a directive to someone 'to shake' something that would already be in that state. Also, I think it's crime and not crying. (Also it's a bitch to type in this reply box.) I think it's def about sex, though not specifically prostitution. I think it's just a contrived random sex, like a sex club...hit the spot, could be not just the place to go to meet someone for sex, but then also hitting the spot in bed. It seems this song is sung to a man, who is probably pretty conservative, and is trying to climb the ladder (to the sun). |

I'm REALLY liking several Pinback songs right now. I know I'm late to the party, but AFK, Fortress, Good to Sea, those are bad ass songs. this is a great thread...whomever nailed that Slint thing, great job. |

| Pinback – Fortress Lyrics | 17 years ago |

My first inclination is that it is about kicking heroin...all of the freezing talk, and chills, and test of will. Livid could mean bruised, or deficient in color, as well as angry. The first two definitions would apply to heroin users. I'm not buying that this band doesn't care about what their lyrics mean. |

| Eels – Mr. E's Beautiful Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"The load on the road...Indian's eye"--18 wheelers bringing goods across the country that will be used and discarded. "Ringmaster Telecaster" It's got to be television. “Girl with the curl...Daddy just don’t care” We sit in front of the television while our sweet daughters climb out the back window to go party with the Eels “Clown with the Frown..Quite a scare” You never know what guy that seems happy, is really about to drive down to a public place and start randomly shooting. “Kids flip their lids” Obviously kids are flipping their hats up and/or around backwards. Maybe a statement on white kids liking hip hop so much. “Neighbor digs the flavor...different town” The dude next door kinda likes it too, but he doesn’t want to live next door to it. “Don’t believe anyone, but most of all don’t believe me” kinda invalidates the first part right? It’s like the song targets the “ignorance of every day life”, but then at the end falls back into it. |

| MGMT – Kids Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm wondering if this song isn't about a young man finding out and having a baby, that perhaps he doesn't really want. At first I thought this song was in some way about having an abortion. Now I'm thinking it's about a guy having a kid, and maybe regreting how early his childhood ceased to be. As evidence...'mother so proud/voice too loud'...as if to say, your mother loves you kid, but you're kinda loud for my tastes. 'I thought this would hurt a lot, I guess not' It's almost like he's watching the woman go through the intense and painful birth process, and going "hey, this isn't so bad" 'water is warm/giving me shivers' A guy that is watching his chance to still be a kid slip away as he reluctantly and perhaps regretfully becomes a parent, might just have some shivers go up his spine. I can't succeed in dissecting the chorus, but I think the family tree angle is closest. I havn't read Giving Tree, so I don't know if that is a stretch or not, but certainly, I'm sure you could make a case for it. |

| Kings of Leon – Soft Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| bloody nose, also probably coke involved. | |
| Santigold – L.E.S. Artistes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The way I see it, the artist is realizing that there is a heavy price to pay when you become an artist, especially if you are successful. I don't think the artist gives a frick about the fame involved, just wants people to walk by, notice quietly, and move on. She certainly isn't concerned with being friendly. Presumably, that is why she came to (New York, I'm guessing) to get lost in the crowd with the other artists. | |
| The Cure – Just Like Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Sea. I meant Sea, instead of see, in the above post. | |
| The Cure – Just Like Heaven Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The song is about him realizing that he is gay. The girl that he is supposed to be with is dead and burried, (inside of him no less). Making HIM the fem. Also, 'drowned her deep inside of me' or is that deep in sodomy???? He's above the raging see, now by the end of the song, not in it. or 'dancing in the deepest oceans, twising in the water' He kissed her head???? Really? And he's distant and far away when he's with his girl? When he finally 'opens up (his) eyes' he is alone ABOVE the raging see. He has opened his eyes now, and sees himself for what he really is. Gay. Of course, it's Robert Smith, we all knew that like 15 years ago. Awesome song, and easy to play on guitar. Ironically, this song about being gay, will get you a lot of chicks. and probably gay dudes too. |
