I agree that this song could be about more than a human relationship. I think alot of it has to do with severing an emotional connection with a certain lifestyle or phase of life. He know he must move on to the next phase of his life despite uncertainty. He knows this is a necessary part of growing up and out, but he's attached to something that he knows he must leave. I also thought about the possibility of leaving a luxurious life style "pillowed hand" for the military "side of a plane". Very literal but it's a possibility. |

When I hear this song I think they're talking about how many of the world religions (although the East is mentioned explicitly) create unnecessary anxiety by attributing every natural disaster to something religious. I don't see this as pointing only at religious leaders with an agenda (scientists' counter part in the magic art) but also at people who believe this sort of thing over science. "Chances are he'll find it either way" To me this seems like the observation that despite facts, if people are looking for something that they want to believe they'll find a way to fit it into their reality (this is the human tendency of confirmation bias). I really like this song! |

to me, this song says alot about the constant desire to keep moving forward and setting new goals. The song follows a timeline but "like any other day" he's saying this desire is not going anywhere. "find it before I expire" seems like a mantra to keep pursuing your goals or aspirations. When you reach a milestone, you move onto your next desire. |
