| Metric – Eclipse (All Yours) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It doesn't surprise me that actual fans of Metric don't really want to comment on this song. I agree with the post above, this is definitely NOT the true sound of Metric. From the straightforward lyrics and the simple melody to the overuse of Emily Haines's high-pitch vocals (which isn't such a bad thing), this is practically the antithesis of Metric's music. Sure, their usual lyrics might sometimes turn out vague, but they play better rock melodies than the ones in this song, and Emily's great vocals could be put to better use than just for this kind of sappy love song. | |

Interestingly enough, according to discogs.com, the person talking on this song is Torquil's wife, Moya O'Connell... Anyway, I really like this song as well... |

| I think the third line of the second verse goes, "On your mark, get set, hurry away..." | |

I think the point of the song is that whatever situation you are in, life goes on, with or without you... The three verses tell three different stories... The first verse is from a first person perspective, the second verse is in the third person, and the third verse is in the second person... Each verse ends with the words "the next day", meaning whatever's going on, there's always another day... Later, Amy puts it differently: "It could bring joy, it could bring sorrow, but it will come sure as light..." I love that this song sounds both hopeful and hopeless at the same time... |

I like the other version of this song on the Sad Robots EP... This other version kinda makes the song sound more haunting than it was before, with Amy singing this time, Torquil singing the second verse, and the more pronounced backing music... The coda ("All I see is me, everywhere...") sounds so much better when Amy sings it, but maybe that's just me... Emily's high, girlish voice, for me, just doesn't quite fit the somewhat dark mood of the song... |
