This and shadow of the sun, are my favourite audioslave songs! this song is just perfect, chris's voice, the drums hitting the right notes on perfect timings, the bass in the background, the guitar solos. you can easily make love to the music listening to this. This song, to me, is about a loved one, who has cancer and is about to pass away, and by the end of the song does, and chris is looking for the last remaining light of hope. why do i think its cancer, because of the phrases: "THROUGH YOUR SPINE, AND EVERY NERVE, WHERE I WATCH, AND I WAIT, AND YIELD TO THE HURT". if you ever saw a person die of cancer, you would really find it fitting. Heaven waits for those who run Down your winter And underneathe your waves Where you watch And you wait And pray for the day this is the part of the song where the sick person is becoming terrible, and you are waiting for them to make it to heaven, since it waits for those who come, but still pray that he heals and get better"and wait for the day". and refers to the fact that this person is sick in the winter "down your winter. |

| i saw this song live in istanbul, on july 08! it was GREAAT! the best song you can listen to, and james goes of and says, " do you feel it?" "DO U FEEL IT?" "DO YOU FEEL LIKE I DO?!!!" and then sings " No one but me, cant save my self but its too late" part! thats when u really do feel it! | |

i think this song is about smoenoe whos looking for fortune and fame and found it, to realise that its something thats not as he expected. he wanted more out of it. "Searched the seas of gold How come it's got so cold" and at the begining he was good at what he does, thats why in remembrance he lives, cause he was good at what he used to do, then hes not good anymore. and he wont forgive himself for losing his greatness in that thing, but wont blame the people who stopped supporting him.
