from what i can tell, this is about a king who was really just a puppet to the rest of the government who really in the end want nothing more than money. he's just an image for the public soon enough, things go bad. enemies want him dead, and the public wants a new king, then he finds that being king isnt really what it runs out to be, he wants OUT! being king made him a selfish and terrible person, thats why he says "i know saint peter wont call my name" he doubts that hes going to heaven, he knows how much bad he's done. then he just ends up sweeping the streets as a homeless person, as first said in the beggining.. NOW HOW THIS REFFERS TO MODERN LIFE: i guess its the same kind of thing, except modernized, with the government and everything.. people are just as money-hungry as theyve always been |

i love this song :) its just about how you should really use your time wisely, dont waste it, make something of it, something you'll remember, good memories.. espeically dont waste your time regretting the past. move forward! |
