isn't this song about a married woman who feels much stronger love to someone else but cant let go of her marriage - her "obsessive devotion"? "If he is your moon, I will be your earth To which you can return, safely or injured" - who is he talking about if not her husband? "I prefer to be a lair just like you To fulfill my deepest desires I belong to someone, I'm dedicated to But all that I desire is you" - she's saying she rather lie to her husband and be with him. it sounds like, throughout the song, he's trying to convince her to leave her marriage and be with him but she's not convinced in how true his love is. |
