I have developed a fascination with what seems to be a theme in John Mayer's lyrics. That is the power of the seasons in regards to human emotion and behavior. The autumn line in this song is just brilliant.

On a night in the last week of this last summer, I was with a group of friends and we ended the night simply lying around listening to this song. Being the summer after our graduation we knew that after this it was going to be a long time until we would see each other and for the ones not going to college a life of hard work ahead of them. Listening to this song, we decided, invoked feelings of nostalgia, and a "we made it through school, we did it" kind of feeling. I dont know I hope that wasn't terribly confusing although its a hard feeling to quantify. Definetely a great song though |

The instrumentation of this song is incredibly eerie. If im listening to this song in the dark, I feel as if death itself is hovering over my shoulder. Definitely a great song though. |
