Mushroomhead – Bwomp Lyrics 15 years ago
Vulcan i am not laughing at all. what you said was one of the most credible things ive heard on this site. sometimes i get at what you explained in my comments but i end up not explaining myself in such clear and understandable way. rather i just talk about the enlightenment stuff without really explaining myself. im glad SOMEONE knows what they are talking about.

too bad most people will look past this comment and not even take anything you said into consideration...

A Perfect Circle – Weak And Powerless Lyrics 15 years ago
Tilling my own grave to keep me level. he means accepting his own death is keeping him "level" or in other words sober. but then he takes some drugs (jam another dragon down the hole) and becomes weak and powerless again.

"Someone feed the monkey while I dig in search of China
White as Dracula as I approach the bottom"

Personally i think when he says someone feed the monkey he means feed his habit of some kind of drug and while i dig in search of china is his way of saying he is coming down off of his high. Imagine digging all the way to china, its a downward motion. white as dracula as i approach the bottom, well this means he feels sick after he has come down from his high.

The angel part is in my opinion him saying "screw it, I'm gonna do drugs anyway they make me feel better so why not?"

just my interpretation.

32 Leaves – All Is Numb Lyrics 15 years ago
personally i think this song is about the journey to enlightenment.

fundamental boundaries = the confines of our mind. the things we've learned along the way throughout life.

the people that reach enlightenment pretty much leave their bodies and once they come back to their body they've been strengthened by what they've experienced.

the chorus is talking about how numb and lifeless it may seem to be in your body, that until you reach enlightenment you do not control your destiny.

Here you'll stay
Where lies are spread wide open
And ties are not so strong
That place you'll never find me
I've already gone

the first line says most people will be in this body form for their whole life.
there are lies all over the place, many that you cannot understand until you've reached this point.
the world is not as snug as most people may think, one slip and its game over.
and of course he doesn't like being in this world so he escapes somehow through what hes learned from enlightenment.
hes already there.

now the last part.

this part is the key, it seems hes saying that thinking is what made him become more aware of everything which some people might not like, cause you see things that you were not trained (by society) to see.
then he says its my own worst enemy then he turns around and says "but it will never own me" which is absolutely the key to enlightenment. thoughts cannot, most of the time, lead to enlightenment. so thinking probably made him feel like shit when he experienced this stuff.

"who am i kidding anyway?" doesn't even know why hes explaining this stuff. mostly because there aren't a lot of people who know about enlightenment.

i can see the idea that this is about a relationship and most likely it is. i just think that people tend to relate to songs differently based on what has happened so far in their life. and i for one have experienced most of what i just said, which is the only reason it came to mind. that's enough out of me :x

Nine Inch Nails – Only Lyrics 17 years ago
He is slipping away from the way the social "world" is supposed to be. And the person he made up was someone he had a relationship with. They made him like this and now he is coping with it all by saying he is the only person and everyone else is not real.

I think the scab was something in his mind that seemed like it had answers and he used drugs to get to it and "go through the door". Once he went through the door his whole outlook on life changed and was seeing the world the way it really is. It reminds me of the movie "They Live".

Ive kinda gone through the same thing (probably why i interpreted it like this) where I see how simple the world is. I see social rules on a different level. What i see is almost animal-like. It's actually very disturbing and makes not want to have any social interaction.

Astral Projection – Anything Is Possible Lyrics 17 years ago
I often think about this world where anything is possible and it always comes to "nothing" all that is possible is only possible because there is "nothing" beside it. So i think it is "no thing" because when there is no thing there is infinite potential.

Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about depersonalization disorder/derealization. Looking through the glass is like having a piece of glass separating you from the rest of the world, which is basically what depersonalization/derealization feels like.

My favorite line is "the epidemic of the mannequins contaminating everything we thought came from the heart it never did right from the start". I believe he is referring to people in general. Derealization makes you feel like nothing is real and people are just "mannequins". These mannequins seem to just go about life not even thinking about anything, they simply live.

I could go on but I don't really want to. It's all there if you've ever experienced it before. If you want to know more search Depersonalization on wikipedia.org
