This song made me think of sex slaves and sex tourists in Asia - will the people forced into the trade see the sky again? (will they have freedom again?) And who sings thier blues for them? Is there enough global disgust? Do people even realize that this is going on? The factories can close down, there can be disease, everything can go to hell....but people will still come for it. And some people who participate in this might realize how gross this all is, but ultimately they do nothing to stop it. Cause what if people came for them, wanting answers. Who would ever stand up for a sex tourist? No one would sing thier blues. Anyhoo....that is just what i thought about with the song. |

| I think this song is about the father of the groom - and he is reflecting on his relationship (or lack thereof) with his son, he feelings on marriage in general, and life. I think this is about realizing how final marriage is in changing not just the couple's lives but also all the family members' lives. | |

Not entirely sure, but could this song be about the fight for Ireland from being under British rule? Were there any prominent Irish held in the tower of London - that could explain the lines of the middle verse; "View of some foreign city from the high window" being the view from the tower of London which has ravens on the grounds due to superstition that if the ravens ever leave the country will fall. The silent hour with worthless words could be right before thier execution - but all the same they stand behind thier cause. The hand resting on my head makes me think of a sort of blessing. Maybe the first part is about the persons family - the young arms of a child. And the person fought so that their children could have complete freedom in Ireland, while the last part could be about the wife or his peers giving thier blessing for the singers coming actions..... anyway... |
