>Down my love and held nowhere >He will come and meet me there >Oh he'll wait for me >Beneath the sorrow tree >Ooh >Beneath the sorrow tree >Ooh >Beneath the sorrow tree >Tell my love I'm waiting there >Oh, and he'll know where >My love will mourn for me >Beneath the sorrow tree Once upon a time, I fell in love with a girl. I took her on a date. We had a great time. But something changed in her and it caused me to change. I desired her, but no longer did I attempt her. It was as if I was scared of her, and she was scared of me, as if we were afraid of hurting each other, of making that next move. We never did make that next move, despite secretly wanting to make it. The interpretation, whether me or her, is that from her perspective, maybe she was always waiting for me to make the next move, and I never did. But she never made a move, either. I sometimes wonder if maybe she's still waiting, for me. Maybe not. Maybe there was that one time when she was trying to tell me.. but.. "oh he'll wait for me" .. but I didn't wait. It sounds like a woman who lost her love, and she has hope that her love (lover) will come to her. So she waits... underneath the sorrow tree, waiting for her lost love, but her love can only mourn. |

| Fleetwood Mac – Mystified Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song could relate to anyone in lust, in infatuation, in love, or having feelings of love. Basically, In his eyes, she is completely perfect and amazing. There's this feeling he just can't hide.. a feeling from within, feelings that she is the one. When he sees her, there's a light he sees when he looks at her, it's magical. Mystified basically refers to things that are bewildering, mysterious, perplexed, or confusing. The feelings he feels are very confusing but also powerful and exciting at the same time. | |
| Natalie Imbruglia – Wrong Impression Lyrics | 15 years ago |

jassss, you are right. He's actually putting up walls. She is trying to make a connection with him and from what she's singing about.. it does seem like he is interested but scared.. or he's confused about it. It seems she likes him and she's just waiting for him to ask her for something more... "Haven't you wondered... Why you're finding it hard just looking at me." The line kind of states that he does have a thing for her. But he never did ask.. "Haven't you wondered. What we could've been. If you'd only let me in." |

| Oasis – Champagne Supernova Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Everyone writes a song for a reason. OR at least has some lyrics to put together. If the authors say there is no meaning of the song than it is completely open for interpretation. The lyrics can mean one thing or another or nothing, but to the listener, it is how that listener interprets it to mean something in their own life. Obviously or they wouldn't keep listening to it. I had known this song for a while. I just started listening to it again and realized how much I could related to it. I sent this song to a friend of mine, whom I had such a crush on, and although we went out a few times.. we ended up just being friends. Probably because we never got to know each other as much as we could have. Really just two people on two separate paths. Fun while it lasted. Kind of crazy how much the lyrics match up to our lives. She fell in love with the song too. When I first met her, we went to this event and all her friends were there and we were dancing. Afterwards, all her friends and I went to this after-party. She didn't come with us though. She was the only one not there. But we all went into this back room at the party and got really high. So, it wasn't till 2 years later when I realized how much this song had meaning. With connections being made, especially when people can find something in common.. I really wanted to ask her: "How many special people change? How many lives are living strange? Where were you when we were getting high?" I think things would have been different between us if she had been there. Maybe for better, maybe for worse. I wonder where she was though. "But you and I will never die. The world's still spinning around we don't know why..." We still have a good friendship and memories. It doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Both our lives are continuing.... I would just say that even though things didn't work out between us... this is kind of my song to her. What connections could have been made but were not. "Someday you will find me Caught beneath the landslide In a champagne supernova in the sky." |

| The All-American Rejects – Girl Of My Dreams Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is about coming across many girls in your life. Till one day you come across a unique girl that captures your attention. (I look to the stars, for a girl like you.) You wait for her to notice you, try to get her to notice you because you like her and want to get to know her. You hope she gives you a chance. But you are scared and nervous about it. You continue to hope and dream about being with her, spending your time with her, having amazing moments with her, dreaming about her, and waking up to her every morning. You try to talk to her, but the reality of the situation is, it's really ended before it ever had a chance to begin... she doesn't give you the time of day. She's not interested. | |
| Chris Isaak – I Wonder Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| When we are young.. we have so many dreams. Everything is possible. As we grow up, reality sets in and we realize that we can't do everything we dreamed of...or can we? That feeling when we are younger, children.. "I keep searching for the old me.. Will I ever feel the same?" Times of Innocence. Times of Love. Gone and searching for them again.. | |
| Pete Townshend – Now and Then Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This is an amazing song. Unfortunately, it's very a underrated song by Pete Townshend which just contains a powerful message. It can be interpreted in a few ways. The song is about finding that one soul or person you come across and you are absolutely in love with, you know there is an instant connection. However, there are two separate ways to interpret the message: One is finding that soul... falling in love and you have no control over what you feel, and you let your lives become entwined (the happiness interpretation) .. and/or either losing that soul at one point and that is where great pain comes in, either because you didn't say the words you wanted to say and let it pass.. or something like that (the sadness interpretation). Another interpretation is the fact that you come across a soul that you fall in love with and that soul is already in love with another soul and thus, you are left with only pain. "For though you knew that I was twice your age" can even be meant that you find a younger love... and you had a wonderful time with that love, but unfortunately, it didn't last. Also it seems in the message that the singer has a lot to gain but lost because he didn't express himself to the other soul. THIS SONG IS A MUST LISTEN TO! It holds a great interpretation for those who listen to it. | |

Drugs can be used greatly to write songs but hardly does a song really mean, "Everyone go out and do drugs." Or "Drugs are good because they made me write this song and see it this way." That's not what the artist is saying. The artist puts into poetic form the story of what she sees in Alice and Wonderland. She did it in 2 minutes .. extracted very important details out of the story. I'm sure there are plenty more, but she did a good job getting the details that were needed. How come people have a hard time figuring this song out? Read the words and don't overanalyze. This song can closely relate to John Lennon's Working Class Hero. "One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small, And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all." ---- You can make your own choices but your parents seem to make them for you. "Go ask Alice When she's ten feet tall. And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall," ---- metaphorically for going after your goals, which you are told to do by your parents and society, "You need to have a career. What are you going to be when you grow up?" It's embedded into us that we have to be successful. Yet we are very fearful of moving forward and what we are going to do and be because we are never really thinking for ourselves. Referring to Alice as Ten feet tall basically means she's already starting to THINK for herself. She's "bigger" now and beginning to realize it is HER who is having HER *OWN* adventure, NOT OTHER PEOPLE .. so why are people telling her what to do and how to live her life? "Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar Has given you the call" ----The hookah smoking catepillar? Ever watch Alice In Wonderland? The catepillar asks her "Who are you?" Alice doesn't really know because she has been told what to do all her life.. WITHOUT EVER QUESTIONING BACK. But in the story, Alice actually asks back, "Who are you?" Basically the catepillar has given her a "wake up call." She begins to question authority. We could also get into what "Who" means. Is Alice not a person? How do you reply to "Who".. are we teachers, scientists, police officers, businessman, construction workers, etc. That is WHAT WE DO, not WHO WE ARE. Therefore, the answer would simply be, "I'm Alice." "When the men on the chessboard Get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving low." ----The "men" in society who are in charge? All about authority.. first your parents, than your teachers, than the political figures, and the police... you are just confused. Who do you question? Everyone is telling you what to do but you never know what YOU want to do. You're mind is moving low.. are you even thinking for yourself? How come you don't question anything? How come you just accept it? "Go ask Alice I think she'll know. When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead," ----When you begin thinking for yourself, all that you ever have been told, and all you have ever known really just doesn't make much sense to you. Once you begin to think for yourself, you start to realize so much more. "And the White Knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"" ----In the Alice in Wonderland story, Alice realizes.. The White King is talking backwards.. he's really not making any sense or saying anything important. The Queen might be saying all this stuff and demanding action, the Queen is not the true authority. It is Alice. "Remember what the dormouse said: "Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"" ----There are a few things that stuck out here as to what the dormouse had said: `You might just as well say,' added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, `that "I breathe when I sleep" is the same thing as "I sleep when I breathe"! ----I breathe when I sleep. I sleep when I breathe. Aren't they one in the same? This is probably extremely open for interpretation, but what I see is.. we can go through life never questioning authority or we can question authority. In the end... it's all about how we lived our life, either by our own means, or somebody else's. Of course.. it may take you a lifetime to wake up one day and say, "Oh my God! I've been living someone else's dream, when do I get to live my dreams?" The dormouse also recites: "Twinkle Twinkle, little bat! How i wonder where you're at! Up above the world you fly Like a tea tray in the sky" ----Where am I? Who am I? And then this line... "up above the world you fly like a tea tray in the sky" Could this be translated as.. you are made to seem like you are high in the sky, going places because your parents and society tell you that, that you will have success, you will find that career.. yet you are pushed along like you are tea being served on a tray? basically you're not doing things for yourself because other people are serving you by telling you what it is YOU should be doing rather than you serving yourself, thinking about what it is YOU want to DO with YOUR LIFE. |
