everyone has a different meaning for this song because it is without meaning.
The RHCP write and release generic pop-funk drivel, the lyrics are complete nonsense, then scores of people convinced they can do no wrong come on here and try and create a meaning for what is a string of words chosen because they rhyme.
I have 10 year old relatives that write with more meaning and depth than this. Most over-rated over-hyped band in history lol |

This band is the most over-rated overpaid band in history and people need to take off their rose tinted glasses and realise that their music is just generic pop-funk rubbish, and their lyrics are completely nonsensical. lol I have relatives less than 10 years old who write with more depth and meaning than this.

lol at the person making fun of SOAD. Their music is totally original, and has completely unique timing signatures that are immensely difficult to play.
Red Hot Chili Peppers make awful generic pop-funk lol They are god awful, massively over-rated, their lyrics are nonsensical, and they are one of the worst bands I have ever had the misfortune of being ripped off to go and see lol
I just came on this page to read what people thought the "meaning" was as the lyrics are like reading a 10year old's poem. Random words chosen to rhyme. Only song I can think of worse than this for nonsensical lyrics is "By the Way" |

letterstonoelle, I know exactly what you mean but don't really agree. JEW are amazing at writing catchy yet meaningful pop songs. They don't claim to be particularly "deep" in their songwriting. This song is catchy as hell and doesn't neccesarily have a juvenile meaning. The fact that you interpret it that way is up to you. I hate bands that target markets and spin money just as much as you, but JEW don't fall into that category. |

I can't believe some people are still coming up with theories about Claudio & Newo etc. ITS THE WRITER and Claudio lol The characters wouldn't be saying "Like jesus played letter" because they live in a fictional world, they wouldn't know anything about Jesus, that part is obviously the writer. Also "If you could just WRITE me out" is obviously Claudio talking back to the writer. |

also josheppardfan831, josh said that before this album came out. If you had done YOUR research properly you would know that he also said the band began listening to Rush around the time that this album was released.
I Don't agree that the song is a tribute to Rush or anything, but the title is obviously meant to reference them. |

Little bit of a coincidence that their music draws so many comparisons to rush, and 2112 is also a concept album, like all of Coheed & Cambria's, then they name a hidden track 2113? Both bands are awesome, and 2112 is an awesome album |
