this song was my high school graduation song so, to me it will always be about moving onwards and upwards. "We won't say Our goodbyes You know it's better that way We won't break We won't die It's just a moment of change" perfect lines for that particular moment. so beautiful. even though it's saying it's just a moment of change and everything will be fine - still had us all crying buckets. of course it's all about moving on with a loved one. even more emotional for me and my boyfriend. this song assured us we would stick together no matter all the changes going on. |

a relationship ends and he didn't realise how far he had to fall - the world seemed different and better with her and without her everything seems strange. but he feels that why should he accept this seemingly 'new world' and get back to happier times ('fly' from how far he fell) when he can just hide away and be depressed. the last lines "and why should i learn to die when i could just fly away isn't it strange?" he realizes he has the strength to move on and he gets over her. he realizes life goes on and he isn't dieing without her |

i think it's about a couple who have had problems - honesty being a main was as later on "Maybe then honesty need not be feared as a friend or an enemy " they fear their own honesty (friend) because they dont want to hurt each other, and they fear the others honesty (enemy) because THEY don't want to be hurt. They "smile for the casual closure", they are saying goodbye but they are still in love and with a chance of a future after the air has cleared. But, "here comes the downpour" because they will miss each other and it is hard to let go. "there's really no way to reach me, cos i'm already gone" he doesnt want her to force it to work at this moment, and she can't connect with him again because he's already decided to let go and he needs the distance to heal things. a beautiful song about how even perfect relationships have problems and sometimes its better, even though it's harder, to step away and allow things to grow and heal in absence. |

i see this song more as a political attack. "Quick, runaway, hide, before they see you" - don't let yourself be sucked into the shambles that is the government nowadays, making out that they are like hunters. "It's all a glow" - its all a front. "Walking on water seems perilous now You’ve got my trust, and it feels, and it feels Like sabotage, but I’m pulling triggers back on myself" - a stab at how religion is ignored in politics, everythings made out to be a danger or a threat. he knows its a 'sabotage' but it's all he knows and all he hears so he accepts it like everything else. "And it feels so real from the outside looking in" - everythings so over-publicized, carefully crafted and shoved in your face it seems so real "Tyrant" - are the leaders tyrants? for doing whats easy instead of what's right? or is it him .. for taking the easy option and believing what they say rather than fight it. "stained with apathy, i'm blind but i can see" - people are uncaring about whether what they hear and see everyday is a sham. they just get on with it. they are blind to the manipulation, yet they see what is wanted for them to see. "gonna bring you all the answers, quick turn around, look" - they will give you all the answers they think you should know to give them power. yes maybe i sound a little irrational. i'm very anti media + government at this moment so may be bias but this was the message i got from the song as soon as i listened to it. even the riff, like a quick paced beat of the fast lives we live - or a heart beat, on edge from the dangers we are led to fear. basically religion v. politics. and how you cant seem to support both. will he take the easy route? (tyranny) or fight for his beliefs. |
