Bloc Party – Skeleton Lyrics 17 years ago
i think the song has to do with a man taking advantage of a woman and having 'no-strings-attached' sex.

"So just take off your shirt
And just take off your dress"

i think that he is aware that he can get what he wants though he is still young and naive about sex, which is seen through the lines:

"So young and so handsome
So easily led"

"They told me to wait
I said"

- i think he is reflecting on the advice he was given once, and the advice he once ignored and probably shouldn't have.

the lines:

"It makes a man out of me
You take the fun out of me"

have a lot to do with the fact that one night stands leave him empty, hence "im just a skeleton". though having sex with a woman may make a man seem masculine and in a sense 'better' and appear more impressive, there is no fun in sex with no love. there is no fun in relentless screwing.

i think it has excellent meaning. and bewildering truth behind it. (Y) kudos to bloc party

Hot Chip – Crap Kraft Dinner Lyrics 17 years ago
i think it has to do with growing up in an alcoholic family, and having to cope with incoherent loved ones when it comes to dinner parties and other various get togethers.

the second half, however, leads you to believe that there is one particular person that is unable to care for themselves, and disabled by the consummation of alcohol. and that is where the:
"all you have left is one kraft dinner
that i brought back for you last summer"
also, the use of "baby" makes you think that it is someone intimate, possibly a lover.

all in all, i think the meaning is ultimately the struggle against devil that is alcohol, and its control over relationships with others.

MGMT – The Youth Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with various comments here. but i have to say that apart from the song being brilliantly written, i believe it has to do a lot with the 70's revolution and how that effects their music making experiences. i think that they had a similar response with their music to the response that 1970's hippies had. they weren't immediately accepted, and often considered outrageous or rebellious.
the first three verses are seemingly like the protests, love making and rebellions against the conformist and conservative elder generation that occurred in the 60's to 70's.
the chorus also reminds me of that famous American war campaign "are YOU willing to serve your country" which is perfectly fitting to the 1970's hippie vibe which was opposing to the efforts of the Vietnam war.
