I've gotta say I pretty much agree with drkeyes on this one...I like to think it's about love. One girl is clearly into this other person, saying "I'm a lucky girl. See, I like you." And she wants that person to be committed to her hence: "so won't you pay, if you wanna go down?". It's like she's totally ready to be with this person, but just wants commitment because she's emotionally into them. Just my two cents :p Awesome song! |

Totally digging this song..Can't believe I just now found out about The Exies! This song def reminds me of my last relationship...pretty sad, actually when I really think about it..I was so young (maturity wise), willing to put up with anything for fear of being alone and losing the person i'd fell (unfortunately) in love with.. "tell me when my time's up, so my hope no longer lingers" it's like 'hey, let me know when you lose your love for me, so I can stop falling deeper and deeper for you and make a fool of myself' "then say no more" it's like, 'just leave me be. let me deal with this pain i'm going to feel..this pain that'll be unlike anything else I've ever felt before. and stay away as there's no possible way that having you around is going to help matters any' "I get nervous when you're leaving, so tell me, reassure me" I was always so afraid when my ex would go out. I feared she would cheat on me (turns out my gut-feelings were right on..ha). I never wanted to appear as 'un-trusting', but at the same time, I wanted to be re-assured. Just my two-cents on the meaning of this song. ;) |

Pretty self-expanatory lyrics here. In this situation, a guy has multiple relationships with different women, all being simply "friends with benefits".. One girl begins catching feelings and the guy is simply flat-out telling her that she's just wasting her time as he's not going anywhere past friendship. He's going to be "getting his" while she should be doing just the same. No emotions attached. Period. Personally, I find this to be a very catchy song. I was hooked the first time I listened to it. I'm not a "friends with benefits" kind of person (and to each their own, right?), but my ex pretty much was ('cept I WAS led on...haha), so I can semi-relate...as the girl falling in love. Wish more people knew about this song..it's pretty great. ;-p |
