The Ancient Mariner! woo boy! My favorite song from my favorite band. This song is pure epic, thank Jesus its so long. Such masterful storytelling. I was most excited to see this song live on Somewhere back in time tour. Bruce was talking about an albatross and the guy next to me was like "flight of icarus?" i responded with a "umm no Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and i was the only one around who knew most of the lyrics.
As far as long songs.....my favorite (besides this one of course) would have to be "2112" by Rush, which is over 20 minutes.

Great song....if it sounds anti-war its because this was a meaningless battle with massive human loss.
Listen to Longest Day instead....very similar type of song but its about D-day a battle with meaning for a good cause. Completely different message. "Blood and Sand! WE WILL PREVAIL" |

This is one of my favorite songs ever. It gives me chills. There's a You tube of this song played with Saving Private Ryan...its Brilliant. Anyway. This song is more of a Testament of the Human spirit. Your scared shitless, your friends are dying around you.... but you still press forward. "Blood and Sand WE WILL PREVAIL" i love that line. I also like the references to Valhalla and "No Chance for a Warrior's Fate" To me that means that in Modern War you can't die like a Warrior you get hit with a random bullet or explosion and you gone no matter how courageous you are. |

Oh yeah....the movie was boring but a very interesting view of man...had to watch it for a class. There some crazy ape sex in it too which was weird. Want to know another secret? The biggest good guy ape in the movie was Ron Perlman who plays HELL BOY these days. |

My least favorite Iron Maiden Song. The music is ok, but the lyrics are horrible like someone stated. the part that you are missing is that the DINOSAURS didn't walk the earth with MEN looking for fire. They were all dead. I love history and the fact that Maiden uses it....but when you screw up a face like that i can't get past it. |
