i think this song is about two things:
1. her fears about becoming a solo artist
2. her desire to become a mother and the pressure of becoming one before the biological clock runs out
The song is super catchy and what makes it better than most is how it's about self-doubt. In other pop songs, it's always about unshakable faith in life/love or about being super confident or being better than others.
Here, Gwen writes about her fears and doubts, showing her vulnerable and human side. Love it!

You know what? Stephen Malkmus is the king of nonchalant lyrics, tongue-in-cheek. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to REALLY diss Smashing Pumpkins. The fact that people are talking about it and making it out to be some kind of rivalry between the two bands, is probably funny to him. |
