Dear lord, help us all if a bunch of internet badasses actually took the time to point out the scientific flaws in ICP's absurd song. No, I'm not a "juggalo", this is the second song from ICP I listened to, and I don't really want to listen to anything else. This much said, let me point out that this song is being tremendously misinterpreted.
What ICP (apparently High School Drop-outs) want to convey with this song is that life is beautiful and appreciated, however, because of their ignorance, they end up making sheer inane and vulgar lyrics. Yes, they had a "wonderful" message, but it is EXTREMELY silly with lyrics like "Magic in dis bitch". I get that they're trying to be "from the streets" and what with their less than ideal bringing (one of them was molested as a child) would find basic scientific concepts confusing, but this song is VERY counterproductive. Those who go and point out the flaws are even bigger imbeciles--no need to gloat that you passed middle and high school.
Summary:
Had a good intent but, thanks to their ignorance, the song turns out as a mockery of what they meant it to be, and those pointing it out by typing paragraphs refuting the "miracles" of the song miss the point. |

| Pixies – The Holiday Song Lyrics

I think most of you are on the right track, but taking it too literally, this is Frank Black after all!
The "wicked" son is about this guy's conscience, telling him about what he is doing is wrong. He then remembers:
He took his sister from his head ---> Stopped fantasizing and...
And then painted her on the sheets ----> Masturbated to her, the "paint" is ejeculatoin
And then rolled her up in grass and trees ----> More fantasy. The grass and trees could mean innocence, or some kind of twisted erotic fantasy
And they kissed 'till they were dead -----> That because it is incest, it will end badly, he thinks this at the end, because when the act is finished, he feels guilty
As for the holiday...it is something that is good. That gives you rest. "This ain't no holiday" just represents the guy's guilty conscience, and that "it always ends up this way", no matter how hard he tries not to do this. The "hand" part is obvious from here.

This seems to be a song about someone struggling to love his partner, but at the same time, knowing he will mess up, and things wont ever be the same.
It's about someone who wants to believe in redemption, yet does not think it possible. |

Oh please. This song is NOT anti-religious or even anti-God. That would be way too simple for a song like this.
No, this song is about someone who is bitter, and lived through a nightmare. And life just goes on, as seen in the lines "Phones still ring; and singers still sing". So he (the narrator) feels left behind and that no one, INCLUDING and FOREMOST God have deserted him.
This is a story that can happen to anyone, and the reason God is mentioned so much is because to a bitter and sad person, God is the only "warmth" left in the world. And when even that feels so far away, well, we get these kind of thoughts.
Its purely about exploring man's feelings, not "the ridiculousness of th eassertion of God".
That's...too far out for something so personal as this.

Oh, and staying sober refers to "not sinning" but the impossibility of not sinning. Its a very cyinically angsty song, but so true |

Most of you are wrong. Not about drugs or anything like that. Don't you guys see the cynicism in this song? The lines "murder must we" before "the son" refers to how the apocalyptic times will be bad and people will kill each other. And the part of "can't you say somethign past and done" refers to the fact that he wants to find a solution in religion, but all he finds is blame, and the past and done just refers to the blame. The rest is about how trying to be perect makes im feel insuperior and dirty. THAT is what this song is about. Not silly alcohol. |

Seems to me to be about a man about to die, hence "he is not coming back" and about a family that is going to "eat him" or take away all of his things when he dies. Kind of a rich man dying, everyone wants him dead, just so they can take his things, hence the lines "why let it go to waste"? |

I have to agree with either about corrupt capitalism or religion. It seems to me to be more about religion, as it talks about morals and imagination and how the people who teach them get "big". Then they start competing against each other (who's religion is right) hence, the hare and the tortoise, in a rat race, or a kind of pointless kind of thing to do. Then when they talk about the ball, it kind of reminds me of how the religious organizations just kind of deviate from their teachigns, and some of the lyrics say the song says "made a mess". Also, when he relates to "just wait until then" it could be a reference to the apocalypse and how "who was right" will be determined there. Then when the birds of a feather, it means, is it really smart for people to only live and communicate with people of only their own religion? And then about the masses, its about how many religions lost their original perspective and now focus on only money...and because of that they will eventually fall. |

I dont think it is about a drug. Cocaine and Cococo are totally different, IMO. Anyway...It sounds more like a song about a great relationship that slowly spirals downward. Prob. first real date too, since it says "wont forget you" |

I love this song. Beatiful, yet eerie. Catchy, but dark. Anyway, it is about a guy who was helped through hard times by a woman, but he always kept looking for that someone. Now he realizes that someone was right next to him all along... |
