@ jmerc87, The clips are from Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanors. Probably Allen's most metaphorical film, it tells the story of two men and their respective infidelities. There's unrequited love, bad deeds going unpunished, and melancholy, wonder if Bob's lyrics were at all influenced by the movie, I know he's always been really into film. |

I love when a lyricist can incorporate blatant swearing into his words without sounding like a teenage punk band. Not saying his words are very eloquent, but they have a real charm to them. Definitely hear remnants of the Velvet Teen beyond the bass stylings. Great song and band. |

This song has a very bittersweet feel to the music and as usual, the lyrics are presented in a fashion typical of Wheat. It is absolutely amazing.
I believe the words speak to a girl who has either left the author or is stuck in a relationship she no longer values. However, the singer still loves her but doesn't know if that is enough anymore.
The final lyrics, "It's a really long road / If I don't love you better," say it all: if she no longer loves him, it's going to be a very long road to recovery. : ) |
