maybe someone can clarify this for me: if whoever hit the snooze, doesn't that mean that she got to lay down with him? i get from the words following that phrase that it holds a negative connotation. that he never gives her the emotional relationship that she needs but she always expects a deeper connection. |

this song exemplifies my pseudo ex's and i's relationship. we were eachother fall back people, but it didn't start out like that. he broke my heart, left me on the side of the road staring as he moved on, and that's the beginning: "i don't get you, i can't forget what you've forgotten" the second time around, we kept our "relationship" a secret. because my parents didn't approve of him, but honestly. it was because he wanted to fuck around and not feel guilty. "your secret kiss of confidence was my escape the perfect game to play" by the third time, we knew we weren't anything serious or never would be. just something to pass the time and make ourselves feel less lonely. "ten nine eight and i'm breaking away i'm all dressed up and i'm ready to play seven six five four and i'm all over you counting three two one and i'm having fun." and lastly, when we "broke up" that third time because he couldn't even handle that small amount of commitment, he needed to mess around on me. i can relate to this song to some degree, honestly. i'm not going to give you my life story, but i will give you this: my boyfriend and i had a semi complicated past with eachother before we started to indulge in the present. so i don't necessarily trust him as much as i should. and because of this, i feel like i'm breaking my own heart. because if something happens i make up these stories that have him breaking me. when she says "she'll never come back home again" i agree with crashback2earth, when she said that it's mentally. it's like, she'll never be able to go back to that relationship that was safe and comfortable because something damaged it. |

this song is about how he's in this relationship and he knows that it won't necessarily work out. and he's finally stepping out of the stage of denial and realizing that this relationship is doomed. and the end is how, they had so many misfortunes in their relationship that he's become so callussed to the idea of them being together. therefore, he's fine. |

i think this song is the most endearing thing that i have read in a while. how it doesn't matter to him how broken she is, he just wants to make her happy. he wants to be the person that restores her faith in people, in relationships. it's a beautiful song. |

i believe at some point anyone can relate to tegan and sara's song. they are just the right amount of bitter cynical that's hopeful that anyone can listen to their songs ad naseum and clear your mind with it. this song is one of those. like, you know in your heart when you should stop "talking" or dating someone because they are just stringing you along. or they aren't the best for you. but it's always so hard walking away from them because of everything you felt for them. and everything that you experienced with them. i think this song is a perfectly example of the anxiety before breaking it off. and the regret that follows after it is done. |

this reminds me of my boyfriend and i, right now. as in he's william fitzsimmons telling me not to put too much faith in his heart. isn't that pathetic? nevermind. i don't want judgement. i think this song is about a guy who maybe loves somebody but can't stay completely faithful to her. like, he can't help not physically cheat on her but emotionally look for somebody better in the relationship. but he realizes that it's wrong, and he wants to girl to move on and find someone that loves her completely, because that's what she deserves. but he's telling her that no matter what. he'll always remember the good times with them. because no one can take those away from them and their relationship. when he says that "god, i wish i would've learned" that's him kind of realizing that she's was the one for him afterall. and he wishes that he would have realized that before he told her to not put faith in him, to move on, to "bear a child" that's just my interpretation of it. |

i believe this song is just about how people close their eyes to issues because it's easier to ignore or chose blind faith that it'll get better. he's saying with compassion and love, we can ultimately make the world a better place. if we just stop living life in this routine as living for ourselves and be the change we want to see in this world. |
