the end..
'and he shook my shoulders and he shook my face'
i think thats either his way of saying god is trying to remind him that he's still there, or it's like the death of this girl is 'physically' weakening him... make sense? i can just picture someone turning their 'face' from god after something this tragic and life-altering happens |

this song makes me feel like someone died one year, six months ago..i know there's a chunk of lyrics that don't fit that idea, but the rest does. 'a beautiful somewhere" ? heaven? |

its weird... before i even consciously associated this song with drug use, it always made me think of my ex boyfriend and how he was always stoned and more interested in drugs than me. i was younger then, and i was soooo all about him for years. i used to drive around with the windows down in my car and scream this song hahaha... definitely a downer sometimes, but it's also kind of liberating... how great does it feel to get rid of all the stuff that reminds you of your ex? fuckin love this song for ever ever |

someone is eating up the lies they're being told...they're so much more comforting than the truth. the post card part makes me think that the relationship has become a lot more casual and distant. i think the person who is living this song is realizing that they've been believing in someone/something that was never going to work out and they feel stuck in the past... 'the golden days.' they feel stuck in time and they can't move on past this person. they acknowledge the fact that everyone has to deal with their shit, but towards the end his tone goes from complacent/mellow to angry. |

parts of this song make me feel like it's about a dude who loves a girl and she's got some kind of addiction, and he probably did too at some point, and she's using people (probably other guys) to get what she wants. This guy will stick around though until she comes around. |

I think this song is about someone who has a great life, but anything good they've got going for them is overshadowed by who's missing. They've got nothing without that one person. The person they're missing is a void that can't be filled. They chase some pills with some booze to shake things up, change the scenery. This is a secret and they try to keep it from everyone. I think they're visibly disturbed (and the people close to them notice), but no one knows exactly what's wrong. Since no one knows what's up, they are left to grieve alone and nothing around them changes or adjusts for them because 'nothing is wrong'. They cry over whatever they write because when it's written down on paper its real. I think they're lonely because that person isn't around, and he's really the only person missing. I think the reference to schoolbooks implies this is a young romance. This person feels forgotten, and they feel foolish for thinking that person would even remember to think of them. It's a big, bright, beautiful idea that thet could be together, but it was never possible and it's slowly fading away. She isn't really looking for him to come around anymore, but she just wants to know what was wrong with her, and what she could have done for him want be with her.
I've never felt so alone as when I listened to this song. |
