this song, to me, definatly is about either a girlfriend or just a girl he cares very much about, wasting away her life on drugs. "you can't stand on two fucking feet with substance as your crutch" something has happened in her life that makes her weak -emotionally and/or physically, and she's relied on drugs or a 'substance' to keep her from slipping under. he knows that it is only making her worse, and he tries to tell her. because of this and probably other reasons, their relationship isn't as strong as it used to be. he's scared, he doesn't know what to say.. possibly because nothing he says is working. but he won't let go. " i wont give up on you, so don't give up on me." "these scars won't tear us apart"- i cant figure out if he means that figuratively or literally. like, maybe either him or the girl has struggled with cutting? or maybe she was physically abused. anyway, obvoiusly the girls quality of life is poor and he's desperatly trying to help because it is effecting their friendship. and he won't stop trying, he won't give up on trying to save her. |

this song is hands down my favorite on the whole album. anyhoo, its pretty plain and simple, what oli is talking about here. one of his friend's loved ones has passed away and because of it their relationship has changed. he watches his friend fall deeper and deeper into depression, and all he wishes he could do is bring the one who passed away back. he wishes all the sorrwow and tears brought from this incedent could make up for what has happend. holy lord i love this song. its so powerful. |

His relationship with a girl is getting together, breaking up, getting back together, breaking up... etc.etc. i'm guessing a lot of their problems are her fault since he's seeking revenge, the revenge is sleeping with other girls. [but they just dont feel right, like she does]. and im guessing their relationship is based on drinking and sex. "Last night, we dressed to our best. And drank till there was nothing left. veganisdead - im not sure how you get that he's debating whether or not he is gay, out of these lyrics. i completely agree with MyRevenge. The marriage part - "so much for living forever, so much for death do us part" .. makes complete sense. She obviously passed away, and im leaning towards a death due to alcohol [drunk driving or possibly just drinking herself to death] because of the title of the song "liquor & love lost" the predominant 'liquor' factor in his life was his wife's drinking, and he obviously loved her. Since she's dead, both are lost. I'm thinking also she was into the whole bar/pub scene. "i saw your eyes, laced in smoke and cigarette curls". He's used to seeing her in that sort of setting, so he continues to see her whenever he's there. Thats my idea.. |

so being from the US i can't physically own the hard copy of SS.. =[ so i haven't read the inside cover. that is so kickass that this is a suicide note from some russian dude, whoever it was =S.. joejackoff - good eye catching the reference to 'rawrrr' lyrics. caught that one too. any true bmth fan knows that line from that song.. well done. i heard this song about 2 months ago at warped, obviously before this song was released.. i've been waiting and waiting to own this song!! so, i think this song is trying to say -don't sleep [sit around] wasting your life away. i love 'death is a promise and your life is a fucking lie' - so good. =] meaning, you live your life as if you're never going to die [sitting there, waiting around like you have all the time in the world to accomplish anything] but yet death is inevitable [sp?].. and the reference to rawwrrrr lyrics ["and if you think you're alive, well you're better off fucking dead"] when he says 'i've said it once and i'll say it again if you think you're alive then you're better off dead'. i interperet this as him meaning 'if you think you're the shit and you think you've got it all, then just go fuck yourself, cause theres no need for arrogance and cocky-ness.. tell me if im missing the point there. |

also.. i really think this song is about feeling like a failure, and feeling guilty about something.. [not quite sure what that could be, possibly guilty for wasting time in believing in this faith he is now doubting] and as oli feels like a failure, he's doubting his religion and faith in God.
