also, I dunno if this has been mentioned, but the line "soldier blue in the barren waste" is reffering to the 70s movie "soldier blue" and a scene in particular where the Americans are litteraly "raping the women and wasting the men" it's quite horrific, but if you can stomach it, loook it up on YouTube, good film. Also, I think the narrative goes; Native>American>bystander , with the bystander solemnly recounting the situation. Oh and to me this is post Lincoln era, so 1870s? By which times it was definately the American army, not under British control This song Lso helped me study for my history exam :D |
