i think this song is about drug usage, how he wanted to quit using. And also how bad it is. The name "Civil War" may have to do with how it was him fighting his bad side (the one that wants to use) with his good side (the one that wants to become sober), young men dying, the younger ones think its cool, thus they try it, and die of an overdose i would guess. Women crying, their spouse begging them to quit. i think my idea makes a lot of sense. opinions? |

i love this song!!! Dios back!!!!
its an easy song to interpret but its just this one part confuses me a bit:
So I told him about my pain
And the life I've been through
He just smiled and the laughter came
Then I told him that I love you, and the Devil cried
why would he cry if he said "I love you"? I would seriously laugh my ass off if i were the devil, no one loves the devil lol! |

i really cant dissagree with you, its an amazing song, anyway lets get to the interprutation:
"I stare at the wall
Watching my time float away
It’s all been a blur
And nothing will change"
The thing about the wall, i think thats when he is stoned and all he does is waste time, and "It's all been a blur" but the thing is "nothing will change" that means he didnt want to stop his drug problems but he does admit he has a problem |

this song is about jesus for sure
"Heard about this kid born in Bethlehem
That could heal the sick with the wave of his hand
And how his father had this master plan"
"Because I had a bad view in Bethlehem"

thanks to alexunder1oath, he has opened my mind when he was talking about a fault line and he compared it to whom it may concern. i thought "hey, they mention that the cycle never really ends, and in to whom it may concern they say end cycle."

not a rumor actuaslly, he was battling with his drug addiction in define the great line but he didnt quit he admittied to doing drugs occasionally, but well after the cd he became completley clean and now he remains sober and thats what the songs r about, just look at the lyrics for desperate times, desperate measures |

i think this song is written entirley by the singer whom once dealed with substance abuse and when he says where have i been he means he likes the way he is without using drugs, its actually very moving to any substance abusers or drug addicts. |
