The first time I listened to the song I thought that in the last stanza someone (in the present) is thinking in bed when suddenly all the precious memories from his childhood return. "Tonight I'll dream while I'm in bed When silly thoughts go through my head About the bugs and alphbet" [..] and when he later on says: "And when I wake tommorow I'll bet That you and I will walk together again" I just thought that on the one hand it simply expresses his subliminal wish to go back to the untroubled days of his childhood, but on the other hand I could also imagine that he wants to say that their friendship endures although time has passed by and things have changed. Thats my personal interpretation perhaps I'm totally wrong. It just reminds me of my best friend I have known since elementary school :) |

Definitely a great song which makes me nostalgic. `We lost track of the time Dreams aren't what they used to be Some things sat by so carelessly` Unfortunately that's the uncomprimising truth! :( By the way - to me `smile like you mean it` always sounded a bit ironic or even sarcastic...don't you think? |
