i could see how it's about sex; but when i heard it i thought it was kind of about a girl he was into but didn't understand. whether he learned she had ulterior motives or something i don't know exactly. But, i sort of related to it in this perspective, like he really cared about the girl and she made him crazy because he didn't understand her at all, didn't know what to expect, didn't know where he stood with her, all that jazz. So finally something clicks or he learns something and suddenly he gets her, and so it just makes it all the more exciting. "The touch of your lips don't mean as much to me as this I've never felt so alive until I figured you out" [love these lines] He'd love to touch her, kiss her, but that means nothing compared to him finally feeling like he knows her [knows what to expect...]. |

i know it doesn't make sense with the rest of the song now that i've read the lyrics; but when i heard "you're laughing out loud at just the thought of being alive" it always made me think of someone feeling restless and lost and... well somebody wanting to feel alive but that doesn't. so i'd always listen to it when i felt that way; and i still do. it's such a great song [= deff one of my fave's. |

| I only read the top two before i decided to post. They said how the line "you're laughing out loud at just the thought of being alive" [[my fave line. definately] was about being happy. I disagree. I think they're laughing sarcastically (?) at the thought that they're alive. but that's just how i took it. i guess now that i think about it.... hmm. idk now. still my favorite line though. lol | |

| when he's talking about laughing himself to sleep i don't think it's wholly about being amused by the girl. You know how when you're a teen and you do something illegal, reckless, stupid, or otherwise breaking some kind of rules, after you get this kind of high and get nervous and can't stop laughing? i think that's what he means... possibly. | |
