Supergrass – Sad Girl Lyrics 16 years ago
I reckon this might be about Kate Moss. It's all about a model of some description, getting into trouble, being seen walking out the front door. Around the time this song was written she was always in the papers coming out of her house, or some nightclub and was in trouble for taking drugs and generally being wayward.

Also "you've only got yourself in deep", sounds like "you've only got yourself and Pete", which could be a hidden reference to her ex, Pete Doherty.

Oasis – My Sister Lover Lyrics 17 years ago
When I first heard this song, in about 1998, I had it on repeat for hours. Still today, 10 years on almost to the day I still don't tire of it. The corus used to remind me of another famous song but i've heard it too much now.

I think it's about having love and faith in your sister (or brother) - your friend, relative or lover rather than faith in religion. He gets everything (food, air etc) from his 'sister', and nothing from 'the lord'.

I always thought the corus should climb back up a key towards the end of loveeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

Blur – Miss America Lyrics 17 years ago
To add to Mattio, I don't believe it was Coxon - I believe it was actually Dave who was drunk when they made this song. They came back and found him pissed up, sitting underneath a table, banging a chairleg against it, and yes, he screamed out Michael!.

This is why there are no drums on the song and in the record sleeve where the song's contributions are mentioned, Dave is credited with being in a local pub.

Blur – Death of a Party Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the better version of this is the Billy Whiskers mix found on the "on your own" single or the Bustin and Dronin album. Much more raw and scratchy, with the sound of someone sounding like they're falling off a tall cliff in the background.

Fantastic when that same sound ends the song and it mutates into a fairground/carnival tune which is generally suppose to be happy before slowing down to a stop.

It could be about AIDS i guess, but probably just more about the hopeless expectation of a child that if you could just get out and get to mix at a party, everything would be great. When you get there, unless you're popular or a party animal, you sit around the edge, waiting for IT to happen and it doesn't.

I personally think the "death of a teenager" is more like to miserable suicidal feelings you get if you went ot a party and were hopelessly ignored and felt like hanging yourself even whilst you're still there!

MattJamesR - I hate to tell you this but you've been singing the wrong words! Don't ask me how I know but the hidden verse ends with

"I found that you turned into me"
